I have professional floor plans done for each and every one of my listings. This information is posted in pdf and jpg format in mls and in all my on-line marketing. Copies of the floor plans are in each house along with a brochure on the home.

My professional measuring guys provide not only total square footage but, room dimensions as well...and yes, they are included!

When I was working, we were told NOT to include room dimensions for liability reasons.  And, always use "per assessor" as the source of the total square footage.  I don't know if that has changed or not.  It's been 7 years.

Floor plans and room sizes are rarely provided in my area.

Yes, our MLS administrator says she thinks that those agents who fail to do this are the lazy ones in our area, I would prefer not to be put into that category.

Well, my properties are not usually homes - but site and floorplans are important!
In my area, it is RARE to see room dimensions - even though there is a place for them. 

No, I do not include them.  It would be a liability issue if we measured wrong.  If a floorplan from the builder was available that showed dimensions that might be acceptable, but anything you give a buyer that could lead them to say "nah, I don't want to see that house" is not working in our client's best interest.

I am trying to get my listing shown and don't want to give information that limits these showings.  People buy homes that don't match their original criteria all the time.  Get them in and let them decide.

I measure the rooms. Even if the last listing had the measurements I remeasure. 

MLS requires it.  We get flagged if we don't.

I have someone draft the floor plan. I do not provide the room dimensions, simply because I do not want to take on that "Onus".

Room dimensions are not typically provided in Central Oregon MLS.

For my listings, I do put the dimentions of the rooms in the MLS.

I include room sizes in all owner occupied sales. It is am important factor for buyers. 

we have professional floor plans prepared for young homes or very large homes.... if someone has an addition, we measure that exterior dimension...if the rooms are fairly standard, we don't indicate the dimension...

I do include them, however in today's sue happy society I do have concerns.

 I feel it is a needed information for buyers (as well as sellers).

I suppose one could put in a disclaimer in the remarks of the listing that the room dimensions are estimated for informational purposes only??

Whatever Public Record says about square footage is what's required. Room dimensions come into play about half of the time and a disclaimer is included. The Buyer or their agent is usually required to do their own research.

I have seen it done both ways over the years. I prefer to incude them with a disclaimer.

Not expected in my market

I usually do include room dimensions and/or a floor plan of the property. As mentioned in other responses - liability can become an issue later on; if a buyer wants to back out - they can claim that the room size(s) were not exactly as "advertised".

Here in Miami, a few years ago when the market went south - many buyers reneged on contracts claiming that the developer misrepresented the actual sizes of the apartments. The buyers were successful in getting the deposits back!

For many years I have included a professionally produced floor plan which includesj approximate room sizes.  It is an attadhment in our mls--there is no currently a field for individual room sizes.   

We used to many many years ago. Measuring rooms became a disclosure issue in a sale... so this practice was discontinued for good reason.... as part of risk management.

Room sizez are part of the MLS listing form and should be included. If plans available, very useful.

Nope! I do just what is required, and room dimensions are not typically required on our San Francisco and San Mateo Peninsula MLS.

Andrew ~ The listing of individual rooms and dimensions of them is on a voluntary basis in our MLS.  Most agents will put them in, rounded to the nearest foot, but some don't list the individual rooms or what type of flooring each has.

Not provided much in my area. I was taught that if a buyer wanted to measure, I could only hold the 0 end of the tape measure, whatever they saw at the other end is up to them.

The provision of floorplans is not common in our area.  If it's available, I provide it otherwise we typically use recorded sq footage per tax rolls.
