I am uncertain what 'off' means.
I could go to some remote valley in the Andes, were light must be piped in, but I doubt if I want to do that.
Instead, 'off' for me means keeping the eye on the panic indicator and re-prioritizing everything else, for a couple of days. Yes, I can do that.

A weekend, what's a weekend? I can take time off, as I just did and went out of town for 6 days... but that didn't mean I wasn't keeping an eye on my business from afar.

I have trouble truly taking time off. I just visited my son in Kansas for four days, and I worked every day from there. I am the only full-time representative from my company in the area where I work, which has both positives and negatives. The negative is getting decent coverage when I'm out of town, or just want down-time.

Yes but, it's rare! We're planning a trip soon for a long weekend and as always, I have great coverage so, I don't worry about missing anything. I'm still available by phone though.

You can take off any time. However, there may be consequences if you do not have associates to cover for you.

Typically no, because I don't let it happen. But it's doable, and I have done it. I have a team, and I can easily do it. Independent realtors can do it if they have a good friendly realtor they can make reciprocal arrangements with.

I only do that once a year and it just happened. I am the official organizer of the Carmel Art Festival here in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a 2 day event where I basically am the "fixer" to make sure everything goes smoothly or the city is majorly impacted. However, I check my email several times a day, am available for phone calls and texts. I just don't do any showings or anything else that takes me away from the venue of the festival.

Even if away, i am never completely off. I at least reply to email, listen to my messages and perhaps call some back who cant wait. Business does not stop or it goes to someone else.

If you were sick as a dog, on your back and four limbs in the air straight up life would go on. Pause for the vacation. Winter ski trips and sea cruises get my vote. Time off refreshes and recharged you when you unplug.

I just took two weeks off, out of the country. Still checked emails every couple days (to delete the spams and because I had a few active deals going on). I did have someone covering for me. All in all, I had a great vacation and only had to do real estate work 3 times. It helped being 8 hours ahead too, I'd message people when I woke up (midnight their time) and get a respond back when I went to bed.

currently I can. In the early years not so much. But as the broker I now rarely am working directly with clients, but running my office and two fantastic associate brokers that I trust to take care of things. I generally take a two week vacation annually in our off season. I am still phone available to my agents, but they don't usually call. One call last year in a 16 day trip.

Yes, in commercial real estate. However, when you own the business, you are still thinking about stuff during the weekend. A

Yes, that's one of the nice things about this job is that I report to myself & can structure my time accordingly. Having said that I can not take off too much time or I'll just hurt myself. I try to plan weeks off around a slower time of the year. I try to work early on the weekends so I can be home for the later part of the day with my family.

I will generally focus on one project at a time. True days off where no real estate takes place are a rarity although I can escape as long as thirty days when the planets align, however, it took 40 years to achieve that.

the beauty of just doing marketing..... as long as I can have wifi available, yes, I can take as much time as I want...
when I was actively listing, usually I could but not always....

I am blessed to have a great broker, My father. Since we ranch and sell real estate together we both allow the other at least 1 day off a week. I do more computer back office stuff and Dad always have some cattle mission for me so I do that alot. Whether or not that would be a day off is hard to say but it is a time away from computer screen!
