Depends on your goals and plans and the types of real estate you are investing in.
For some it is never a good time, for others it is always a good time to invest.

Historically Real Estate has always been a better investment than the stock market, like all investments you need to make sure you have a good adviser to make good decisions.

That all depends on the needs of the investor. Can you get rock bottom prices on real estate now the way you did during the recession? No. But there are investments which can be found in the market.

My advice is buy a home for a place to live. Prices are forecast to continiue upwards for the next couple of years here is Silicon Valley...so the investment part comes along with the ownership package.
Invest, of course, covers a lot of various activities.

By invest, do you mean buy a principal residence? I don't consider that investing.
If truly buying an investment property, I think Bob Crane nailed it. It depends. No two people have the same goals or circumstances.

Depends on what you mean by invest. Investors who purchase for rental purposes are pulling back somewhat as the numbers don't pencil out. For buyers who plan to live in their homes it won't get better with home prices and interest rates increasing.

Those of us who have experienced several cycles in the real estate business and the economy have come to know the real estate marketplace is always a good investment, however the strategies used MUST change accordingly.
For example of one has only one tool in the tool shed and that is an FHA mortgage, it is true challenges regarding minimal occupancy times will have real economic impact.
Like the double digit interest rates of the 80 and the Bank of America caused crash, people still prefer sleeping under a roof.

It is alway a great time to invest in real estate. . . . as long as you make your investment work for you. . . Most people get in over their head with the payments -- I also try for as little downpayment as possible and make sure my total monthly payment is not more the two hundred dollars over what I can rent the property for monthly. . . . also know what repairs need to be made so you do not get into the "money trap"
