Polls like statistics can be manipulated to the wish of whoever is pushing their agenda.  Like every media, they have their agenda to sell more commercials as well as to influence people in their thinking.  They also want you to believe they are unbiased.

I don't give credibility to MSN polls - Even if not politically driven, in our area, almost everyone believes that the spring is the best time to buy and sell - our voices have yet to be heard by the consumers as a whole.

Smart consumers are anxious to take advantage of the very low mortgage interest rates.

What do I think about msn or the poll?  With regard to the poll results, if 64% of respondents said it's not a good time to buy a home... we as an industry have not done a good job of explaining why it has been in recent years and remains so.

Statistics do show that home sales slow down most in my area in January and February, but I am a believer that homes are bought and sold throughout the year, and like Candice said, "It's a great time to buy a house if you need a house".

Dear MSN, what was your sampling methodology?  Did you only ask those active in the market, or is this on your site so anyone (regarless of ability to legally buy a house) can answer?  How many times has George Soros and Hillary Clinton voted?  Is it like the Atlanta election for Moore, where 5,000 people voted yet only 2,300 are registered to vote?

I really do not put much stock in polls.

I do think we can do better to educate the public so we can dispel inaccurate information that is being published.

Anonymous polling results have really little use. I think the questions posed to a screened, knowledgeable pool may be worthwhile though.

Unfortanately the result of mainstream media. Many people do think that. BUT you also have to look at who who watching/reading the source as to how they will respond.  Use a more neutral media sourch and you will get far more yes answers. I have this conversation often and can leave consumers with their mouth open when i tell them how good of a time it is to buy or sell. Ultra low interest rates make it the best time for a buyer to buy. The ability to sell their home at a good price makes sellers ready now

Actually, this is highly accurate. The question they answered is read, 'Is now a good time for ME to buy a house?"

Those with real estate on their mind will say 'YES.'

Those without the same concern respond NO.

Of the 25% who responded yes, less that 5% of the total population are able to pull the trigger.

And our marketing is focused on that 5%.

Did we really need a poll to tell us what has been common knowledge for such a long time?

They are probably thinkit meant DURING THE HOLIDAYS

It is always a good time to buy a home or anything that is needed when one is ready.

Remember the days when no one purchased a vehicle in winter and now they sell just as many as any other season.

Numbers may be changed to whom is using them; except the lottery!

Cause I'd not want to buy a New Home now either, but a new home, relocate, oh yes it is and I'm looking into it myself.

Not giving this much creditability. I bet many of the no votes are answering no because THEY are not looking to move.  

For most who lack the ability and discipline to invest, real estate is the only alternative. Surprising numbers! god time with low interest rates to use leverage.

Those in the trenches and front lines know it is always a good time to buy with this one here and now exception. We are approaching the end of a Real Estate cycle. This will cause a slight hiccup and then resume. I don't see it being severe or radical. Buy now if able. If not pause and then buy. BUT BUY!
