I let it ring and ring and ring until the caller ID appears.

It is poor etiquette for the caller to block their ID.

I usually answer it as soon as I can figure out which pocket in my coat, shirt, pants is ringing Fred Griffin . Sometimes that is right after the 1st ring and some times I have to call them back.

It depends on how long it takes me to get it out of my pocket. I answer as soon as possible, 1,2, 3+ rings. I don't really worry about # of rings.

nope.  sometimes cell phones have rung on the caller side, but dont ring on the receiver side for 10 seconds, etc.  so I answer immediately.

Is there something in Emily Post about a phone ringing twice being good etiquette? Never thought about it. Phone rings and I pick it up... sometimes i get to it on the first ring, sometimes on the second, sometimes on the third... no one complains as long as you pick it up.

I don't always answer my phone period. If I am working on something that requires concentration or with clients, I  let it go to voicemail.  If I am going to answer it, I just do it

I'm not quick enough to get the phone out of my pocket before the second or third ring.  Sometimes I don't even hear the ringer until it's half way through.

Number of rings.. I see no reason to count rings, just answer when you can get to your phone without falling down or breaking something.

on my office phone I wait until the ID shows which is sometimes at the start of the second ring.  And as an example today I did not answer when it said Google Business  cause well... google didn't call me.
