Been following them since they broke out, since they're in my county.  The person who does our home staging lost her house to the fire.  In my city, just some light smoke if anything.

Below are some pictures I took the last couple days:

Two days ago.  The fire was around 90,000 acres then.  It was just starting to cross into Santa Barbara county on the western side and the eastern side was in Santa Paula.

Same fire, that evening at around 110,000 acres from same vantage point.

12/7 around 445pm, different vantage point, eastern edge of fire approaching Fillmore.  Fire size around 130,000 acres.

I'm living them. Fortunately we're safe so far, but many friends affected.

I'm very close, few miles around 3 big fires, but not right here....so i do know  people who had to be evacuated......

We are affected by smoke, etc.  Our little town of 14,000 which includes lots of avocado ranches on the mountain has been hit hard.  We just went to the Post Office, and you cannot see the hills.  You cannot see the ocean either, the light is sickly yellow.  Our friends in Los Angeles are also in the path, and we are staying in touch with everyone of them via text. We are ready to evacuate if we have to.  A

Many have lost their homes.  I wonder if any of our ActiveRain friends have been impacted.

 I do not know anyone there...but it's so sad.... I can't imagine going through that... my thoughts and prayers for all of the families who live in that area of the country....

Some have given a check in on FB saying they are OK.

Yes, I have heard & read about CA fires. We know a family who was affected by fires in Sonoma, CA. 

I've been following them closely and we have quite a few Active Rain members who are at least somewhat in the path of them. I've had many of them on my mind these past few days.

I have a friend/client who flies a private jet and he texted me this photo last night as they flew over the area. SO sad.

Relative lives in Bel Aire-evacuation ready, dogs are packed in the car depends on which way the wind in blowing. Saw fire pushing toward what looks like PCH (101) almost affecting beach front homes.

No one I know lost their home...yet (this is far from over here in my area with severe winds coming back this weekend) but lots of people I know evacuated. We have not...yet. This was the view from my house a few hours after the Lilac fire started on Thursday.

To all of you AR friends affected by the tragic fires, I feel terrible. Please, please, keep us updated on your individual situations.

I have read a couple of Rainers stories here in their blogs and comments. SO strange fires in west and Snow from Texas to all of Southeast to New England. I hope they get some rain out west

Santa Anas and drought conditions create so many problems for SoCal. Every year there's something, but this is horrible. I have friends out there trying to offer assistance, being told to stand down. Extremely saddening and devastating, the critters, the horses. So many lost.

So sad that these fires are out of control with no end in sight! Devastating to see on the news!

Sure do - lots of friends on high alert and prepped for evacuation.  No one I know personally has lost their home yet, but things are scary.  The Santa Ana winds are no joke this time of year.

I am very concerned for all affected.  I changed my route plans to stay north of the fire zone during my travels today.

My daughter and her family live less than a mile from one of the fires. no mandatory evacuation but they self-evacuated three days ago. Why wait?

It is terrible.  My sister is in San Diego, but she is fine.

  It's all over the news.  How much of that state hasn't been burned yet?  What a rough year for them!

I've lived through many hurricanes, floods, mass shootings, blizzards and none evoke the feeling of helplessness and vulnerability like the images of those California fires.

For some, they see it just 'stuff' going up in smoke. For the victims is the the evidence they ever existed. 

That is when an embrace means more than we can ever know.

Helping without the expection of a 'thank you' is what we are called to do.

I have two relatives in the path. They may have 2 days

I worry about all our friends here in the rain that is in the way of the fire.

It is devastating, and many of our Rainers live in Southern CA, and prayers go out to them all!

We are very concerned. We have many friends in CA who have been impacted by the fires. My daughter cut her recent visit short and came back to Florida as they were breaking out.
