That time I didn't eat to much.... oops, never happened!

Long ago we had fish sticks to go with our Thanksgiving dinner, but my sister who was about 7-8 years old at the time thought she was eating "fish dicks!" and said, "they where good!".

Great story Nathan, it just shows you don't have to have a lot of things to be happy & grateful. Happy Thanksgiving, my favorite memory was the one year I made it to the NYC Thanksgiving Day parade. I was inside & had a great 2nd story view, for which I was truly grateful- it's always freezing down there during the parade!

The first year we lived in Paris in 1989 (where there is no Thanksgiving Day), one of my best friends came to visit for a week and we invited a dozen ex-pat Americans to a traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner... the guests included Katherine and Bob Altman (the Hollywood directore). She was a friend of mine and the Altman's were in Paris because he was working on a film there.

It was a repeating memory - visiting my grandparents' homes (they lived right around the corner from one another). There's just no place like grandma's!

What a wonderful childhood memory and it sounds like everyone had a special day - you can be poor and not know you are, because you are happy! - thanks for sharing this favorite memory Nathan Gesner.  For me, it's a very current memory, and has been on-going for the last 5 years.  We do a Friendsgiving over Thanksgiving, since we do not have relatives where we live (meaning not in the same state).  Everyone is involved and brings something, and everyone that joins us is a widow or widower, who also doesn't have family in the same state.  It's a time I will always remember, and every year we do not always have the same people . . .     

Last year. A lovely dinner at my friend house. Food ( organic, gluten free, I cooked most of it, including a turkey I marinaded for 3 days)  was delicious, the company of friends and family was inspiring, and the Malibu views were magnificent.

  My best memories are at Granddaddy's house in Venice, with Mom's side of the family, and at Grandma's house in Tallahassee, with Dad's side of the family.

Family, friends, playing an annual football game with friends called of course the Turkey Bowl.

For many years after I married, my mom and dad came to my house for Thanksgiving. This was Dad's favorite holiday of the year and each year he said this is the best Thanksgiving ever.

Nathan, that is a wonderful story. Love has no boundaries ... and what you described proves that size does not matter.  Where there is love ... we find a way.  Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My sister always prepare the bird.  The first time she ever cooked a turkey it was so dry and we all added tons of gravy on our slice :) 

Thanksgivings with my cousins when we were little... We'd all lay on the livingroom floor after dinner and watch tv.  We got SO excited when the first Christmas commercial came on.  Now we've seen them since July.....! 

my favorite Thanksgiving memories were that past 4 when I left the table not being stuffed but being very comfortable.

That's a fun memory. I can't say I have anything in particular. Each Thanksgiving is a little different and special. I suppose the best memories are with all of our immediate family, and it's been a little while.

I have many memories of this wonderful day.
