Now whatever or whoever is in my backyard must beware.

My son in law is the hunter in the family and he uses public land assigned through the lottery and he leases land in another state with a group of friends.

Here in Idaho: When I was a kid our house backed up to a mountain that was public land. We had to ride our horses through a farm field, but we had permission from the owner to ride through their land to get to the public mountain land to hunt.  Then, when my family moved to the Boise area, my dad owned a house for 10 years that bordered BLM hunting land. It was the perfect set up. Idaho has very little private land, most of it is owned by the state or owned federally, so land is expensive and hard to come by. But bordering BLM land is a huge plus for hunting. Idaho is mostly public land hunting.

In Kansas: John's family owns a bunch of land in Kansas that they hunt deer, turkey and geese on and he goes back there every year to hunt on it with his dad. Kansas is much more privately owned land, needing family or a close friend to have permission to hunt. It's sooo different than Idaho. -Kasey

We do NOT hunt.

Nor can people really hunt here.  They'd probably shoot a person by accident, at least in most areas here.

Oh man, you can go up about 10 miles due east from my house, ride around on offroad trails for miles and hunt quail, javelina and a few other things. State land . . . I like to shoot zombie targets, but no critters except maybe a rattler! And I'd rather run.

My family has acreage in central Florida, but I haven't been over there in a long time.  Locally, my son-in-law belongs to a hunt club that has a large tract in southern Wakulla County... I can go with him when the season starts on November 23.

There is always the National Forest, but there are a lot of yahoos out there who will shoot at anything that moves.
