I try to save every few minutes because I have lot full blogs and it's alot of work to redo -- and it never seems to be the same as the first one when my thoughts were flowing freely.

I've never actually had a post disappear. I've had chunks of text disappear, which is quite annoying but can be recovered with a CTRL + Z before proceeding. I do save regularly as a Draft. What Debbie Gartner does is a good idea.

I do slightly different way. Before I publish or save on here, I just do control A, Control C, then publish. I don't bother to paste it into another program unless it disappears.
But, generally, if it disappears (as it did yesterday), I just reopen and then paste it and it's fine.

I don't. I save throughout the writing process on AR and that seems to do the trick.

I always write in word now and then copy and past to AR and other places. When I first started writing on AR I would accidentally hit the "Write Post" button instead of the "Publish" button and lost my work multiple times. Has anyone else done this, or is it just me?

Save your posts to drafts and check them again before posting them.

there is no other way.... it's a risk to write directly on your blog.... write on word and copy and paste it.... it may disappear a few times... but you won't lose it!!!

No, but I know it is most disappointing. You are doing the best you can do. I usually write in an HTML editor & then paste it into AR. That's just how I learned to do it.
Sometimes, if your lucky, they will get kept in your draft folder. Check there. Last time this happened I hit the backspace arrow in my browser & I was right back 'there'.

I have hit the wrong button at the end of the post and it is frustrating that the post doesn't do an auto-save.

Some days it is wise to copy the html code to your clipboard just before hitting the publish button.
Once it posts you are generally safe, but if unsure then paste it into a word doc as a backup.

Just write it in a text editor or copy it from your website, Luke. It saves so much time if you lose it and re-write. It takes a few seconds to copy and paste and it work it to do it that way.

I do not know of a way to prevent it from happening. It seems that the AR tech folks do not know either. It is a PITA - however taking the time to save to another program is well worth the time ... POOF will take much more time to rewrite.

No other way that I know of. Either save as you go, copy and paste as you go, or prepare the blog on another platform first.

Many writer on here start with Word or some other word processor and paste the final version into AR to post.

Use the save button and occasionally check to see if the HTML is there <>. That is generally the problem when it doesn't stick.

If you are creating original on AR only post save it as you go along, I've never had a post disappear.
But mostly I copy and paste HTML code from my own website as the easiest way.

Since I lost a few, I usually use ''save'' often and Preview( it is a new window that I keep open till I post and all is went well. If your post got crooked ( formatting usually) or even disappeared, you can always use Preview window to restore what you had originally.
