We use Quickbooks for the business and Quicken for personal. Tie Quickbooks with your checking account and the checks go out directly from the bank. It's an easy way to issue checks and keep track of your accounts...and the CPA loves it too!

No. Checks are so seldom written (mainly just for my cleaners) that it's not an issue.

I use Quicken. I only write 1-2 checks a month these days. The bulk is paid online. 90% of all business expenses are charged. I use the charge account statement to enter items into Quicken.

We have been using Quickbooks from the start. My wife has been bookkeeping for over 20 years so it's a natural fit.

To run my real estate business I use generally use credit cards so I have only one debit amount at the end of the month. I write only a couple of checks a month so it is very easy to manage.

No. But there are apps for that. Scannable for Iphones for example. Scan, then send to Evernote, your email, your bookkeeper, etc. Or, I can just go to our bank and ask for a printout of all checking activity.

I haven't written a check in years. If it has to be paper, I get a money order or cashier's check.

yes,
i snap my receipts and sort them. Very easy to use: Everlance ( I use it for Iphone). My cpa recommended, you can give your accountant access for taxes , that makes it very convenient.

I have a check register for the very few checks I write. I have an excel spreadsheet into columns for my CPA for expenses.

Debe Maxwell, CRS is the queen of organizing her expenses. This is my weakness! I hate accounting and I drive my accountant crazy too! For Nestor's company - we use our business debit card to pay all the bills, I don't think we have written a check in several years.
But the tracking is where I fail! I hate doing the expenses so I set a timer once a week for 20 minutes to get as much as I can organized to send to our accountant.
For my new business, I am much better. I run my va company through PP which organizes everything for me. I can then just print the spreadsheets and email them to my accountant. I use it for invoicing so there is never a mistake on an invoice. I hired one of our vas to handle the bookkeeping now.
Definately not my strength!

Quickbooks.
However, I advise hiring a specialist in Quickbooks to set your business system up and train. Not a bad idea to touch base with the specialist a couple times a year after going live.
A Quickbook specialist is the most frequent service request of small business owners in my area.

I do it the old fashioned way, by hand. I write very few checks every month, everything is through electronic payment these days

Hopefully some others can help. I hardly ever write checks. Quickbooks?
