Yes to the clients' watching these shows! Until they get into the process, they often believe this is 'real life' real estate!!  LOL

As for watching them myself - we used to have two TVs in our office on all the time - one was a rotation of all of the listings and the other was HGTV. I got so sick of seeing HGTV, I really don't care if I ever see another episode!

I hear of some who watch certain "realty reality" shows and there are others who speak Zestimate fluently.   Most people are pretty aware of the truly real world...and then there are those who are waiting for their Jerry Springer moment.   

I don't spend much time worrying or caring about things where I have little or no influence, impact or say.   

I do not watch

Clients do watch.

They ask my perspective on some shows and immediately follow it with, "You live this stuff and don't need to watch, right?"

Then I add, "I've been a part of that circus when it come to Dunedin. Never forget these are 'REALITY' (not real) SHOWS."

I don't watch them because overt deception makes me want to hurt someone.

When i heard my brothers neighbor taping a show after they closed on their dream lake home, showing them looking at homes and deciding but they already closed and moved in, i knew it was fake and lost all will to watch. NOW consumers often quote these shows which is not what really happens in real estate

Sure I watch them but not on a regular basis. Most I do not agree with. 

Listing yesterday mentioned it about having too much clutter around. Some parts of sellers watching are good.

I have watched some but it's literally bubble gum for the mind. It tricks you mind into thinking your doing something of value but in reality provides nothing of value to your body. In other words, it's a waste of time and is more likely to mislead than to educate.

I no longer watch them and I warn people against them.

On our first appointment, I make sure they all know the real life real estate does not = HGTV.

I know clients do but I am not a fan of TV and do not watch these shows.

Yes and they have many un-realistic ideas.

I have a lot of clients say they watch the shows and they want to relate what we're doing to what they have seen. Sometimes, it relates, and sometimes it doesn't. They generally laugh when they tell me they watch them. I have a feeling they realize that there may be some differences from what we're doing and reality. 

I like this show: Million dollars listing NY.

I watch Blue Bloods.....  

My clients do watch and they love Joanna Gaines and Flip or Flop. I occasionly watch too but realize it is fantasy and not real life.

I do not have TV and do not watch usually any shows. But I like DIY and decoration videos. 

Depends on how you define reality shows... I watch Housewives of NYC and NJ--because I'm from there and understand some of those "characters." I keep an eye on Million Dollar Listing NY--again because that's where I cut my teeth in real estate. Do Top Chef and Project Runway count? Can't remember the last time a client mentioned these shows to me except to ask if I ever watch Million Dollar Listing NY.

Some clients do watch HGTV, and do talk about what they have seen and liked - it's not a high percentage though Fred Griffin.  And yes, I have seen some shows, but do not watch any one on a regular basis, so I am not 'current' with all that is done and out there.

I tend to watch them like I watch fantasy and sci fi movies.

Most of my customers are Google Savvy... lol!

I have had many clients that watch HGTV, and watch the fixer uppers ones to know what they want to do with their own home after closing.

I am not in to those shows but my investors are.

Many do, when they are not citing what the losers at Z write.

Did I ever tell you I was a "real estate junkie".  My husband and I just love all things real estate including  real estate on TV.  I don't ask clients about HGTV unless they asked. My husband was asked to take photos on "Vacation Homes For Free". It took a year to air this episode! I did a couple of blogs on it. 

I've had some that did.  I quickly pointed out the actual reality was the tv reality.

People always talk about the Barn door we put in a property... "Like Chip and Joanne do."

My folks watch some of them, I used to but don't anymore.  Last reality TV I watched was season 2 of Jersey Shore.  I'm still trying to get back the brain cells I lost watching that!

I do not watch those shows.  My clients do not discuss the shows with me. I don't know if they watch them, or not.

I don't watch them for any longer than 5 minutes at a time. There's certainly evidence that my customers watch them but getting them to admit to it is another matter emtirely. 

I used to and then I realized how fake it was.

The 4 guys tht buy homes at the courthouse steps, yet all the guys are driving by the auction house at the same time?   I've bought at the courthose steps and checked out houses prior to, never met anyone at the house before, especially none that stayed around there thru the auction process on the phone with with bidders the whole time.  So fake.  Also, those flopper shows that mention the granite place's name 10 times per episode and vist the granite pace each time... (That's the las vegas one)

Why would anyone watch a Real Estate show? I can't wait for escrows to close let alone make a series out of it
