When you're starting out you are thinking about work and building your business, when you are successful you are thinking about work and maintaining the success of your business. As Joe Pryor said, it becomes a question of balance.

I think about my goals more, some are work related. But, after 7PM weekdays and on Sundays and during vacations, I think of work never!

Kevin,
I am not sure what answers you are looking for. More success would hopefully mean more delegation in order to have a life. A

It depends on the individual. Some are workaholics. Some are working part-time to supplement their income. And... a lot in between.

I am thinking about Buyers I have under contract, listings I have that need an offer, and an investor who is looking for coastal property. Today, something else or somebody new will come along and add to the pile; I will be thinking about them.

I'd not say it is more or less, it is different. Now I do not worry about small staff, at the beginning every little thing could course a stress. Now, after 10 years, most situations just repeat themselves.

I focus on building a team so everyone can prosper with being overloaded and therefore not have to think about work 24/7

It's all about working "On" your business instead of "In" your business. If you are a successful human being ( I know a very ambiguous word) I feel you are always thinking on how you can progress, learn and grow in not only your business but in life. So the question is mute to me--I'm always thinking about my "business"! We Realtors just do that.

The more business I get and close, the more I want, and continue to keep the pipeline full! No slacking off here.

Kevin Morris - it is not about more or less, it is work when you work and play when you play....

When I started out, I was doing 14 hour days. Often I'd be up at 8 and working until midnight or 2am on tech/website/marketing stuff. Last year, I started shuting everything off by 7p (with some exceptions) and I ranked in the top 5% of all agents nationwide and in the top 10% of agents in my area (prior years I wasn't anywhere close to that). I'd say I'm doing good and spending less time in/on the biz.

Hi Kevin,
I'm new to the busines, however, the more business I get, the more I want. Success breeds success and when I'm on a roll, I just keep on turning.

More - nearly constantly. But we've been blessed with lots of scheduled down time this summer to recharge.

I think about what needs to be thought about when it needs to be thought about. By managing what needs to be managed when it needs to be managed - it allows me to keep my mind and thoughts of work-related items and be present and enjoy what I am doing ... including sleeping.

I don't know if it has changed from when I started until now. I suppose I'm able to shut my brain down a little better now because I've matured in the business and there is less to be concerned with.

It totally depends upon the person - balance is key, regardless of the amount of business one is doing.

I have been doing this for near 32 years now, and must say the first lesson was not being ready for my first recession and taking it for granted. A decade later when the next recession came, i was ready, i saved, i adjusted and knew what to expect. I think over all getting successful has taught me to work harder by working smarter. I see many in my market whose heads are too big for their britches
