Out with the old and in with the new.   

When I left RE/MAX for KW (briefly) I saved my signs. And that was a good thing because I went back to RE/MAX! KW signs have been tossed... no intention to leave RE/MAX as I discovered I was the quintessential RE/MAX agent while away.

Not all plastics are recycleable so ???

There is no value to the sign itself if you have moved on "if" your name is on the sign.  If it is not, then you might be able to sell the existing signs to those who are still with the brokerage you are leaving.  Otherwise, save the frames and get new sign inserts for your next brokerage.

Recycle them

I keep one for garage art, toss all my custom ones, give away the generics to agents that remain. Luckily I'm loyal, I do not move offices much. Only twice in 18 years: once to relocate to San Diego, the next to venture out on my own.

I own my company and don't ever intend to switch. Problem solved!

We have used them for projects around the house. 

I use them as saw horses in the backyard and occassionally put butcher paper over them and write "Garage Sale" and put them on my corner

 The old ones are useless.  I will cut them up and use them for shelf liners or something.

Paint them with chalk paint and use them for open houses!

Save them for a while in case you don't like  new company. Then it's scrap metal. I've used some to patch roofs and holes in barns and sheds. Some companies make vinyl sleeve signs that you can slide over old or worn yard signs, and use them for Open House, yard sale signs, but I think it makes more sense to just order new signs.

Signs need to be replaced even if you don't change. Why not just spray them balck or white and let people use them for garage sales. 

Giving them to agents who remain with the company is how I recycle them. For the most part only the contact information needs changing.

Give them away.

I have been with the same company for the past 10 years and they provide the signs for all agents, the most reasonable thing to do is give them back before you leave.

Trash them. Frames can sometimes be saved.

Since they were not personalized I would sell them.

I own the signs. Sometimes they just need a facelift, however. :)

I carry generic signs "OPEN HOUSE" and have my own riders and phone numbers. It works for me all these years.  No frill, no personal photo.

Metal frames were given to me by realtors who left the business. I repainted them making sure they look new.  

We have never left our company but about 6 years ago we did update our logo and signs. I think the old ones are still just sitting in our shed. So, I guess we do nothing with them...depending on where you are located you maybe be able to sell or give them away. I read something somewhere where a lady repurposed them. Probably a bunch of crafty ideas on pinterest. -Kasey

Well it's certainly a challenge but there are companies that take your existing signs and rebrand them.  I have had agents that I've hired do this and the signs look good however they fade quickly but it does get extra use and it's economical.  It's a vinyl film overlay and many real estate sign companies offer this. 

I have only worked at 2 reale estate companies in 13 years & my 1st is no longer around. Being I am not the broker I never owned my signs, just the riders. I got rid of the riders to get matching ones when I changed over. I have heard of brokers having the signs repainted but don't know enough about it to comment more. 

Geez - wouldn't some of those make good hurdles?

Sell them

I gave them to another agent in the company.  When I retired (from my own company) I gave my signs to my brother to repaint and use on his farm to direct traffic.  

Good question, I have the panels in the rafter of my garage till I figure out what to do with them.

It has been years, but threw away the old panels.

Don't plan to quit myself so will never face that. I did have some large commercial signs from when I first started and I brought them to my sign maker for a "re do".  Those were expensive signs, and it was totally worth it. I still use one of them and that's 8 years ago that I went on my own.

Most people sell them to other agents. I also heard you can get them wrapped which is much less expensive.

No clue.  Probably just trash them.  Been so long since anyone in my family changed companies I can't recall.

The sign company disposes of them. 

I've reused some that were generic i.e. just my name, without company name or logo; others gave back to firm.

I've never switched companies... but depending on the circumstances, I can see a situation that might involve a cleansing firepit, and smudge stick.  Perhaps placed in the center of a pentagram drawn on the ground in charcoal?

I have signs that should be thrown out...I will get to them at some point

I have not switched companies in 31 years. I do update and replace my signs when they get beat up or the metal collectors collect them up
