It seems to happen more frequently. People just feeling free to walk around a house just because a has a sign out front. I instruct all my sellers not to let anyone in under no circumstances and tell them to call the Realtor. Rarely do actually do it.

I'm not aware that people peep into the windows of my listings. Whether it says appointment only or not, they should have an appointment or they are trespassing.

You can't imagine what I've seen over the years & recently I've sold a home I was in & it was awful. People just drive up & do the 'I was in the area' stuff or go to the back of the house & start looking in windows. Tracks in the snow verify that.

I guess they think it's a department store window?

It's happened, and I know of cases where the the peekers will think twice before they ever do it again. No, a sign is not an open invitation, but some people think it is. If a seller is having propblems, add a few of these scary peepers on the inside, and put a scarewolf rug on the front porch. http://www.scarypeeper.com/

Some years ago, for a very short time, worked with buyers from NJ.

A for sale sign, for them, was an invitation to walk around the house, check out the back yard, then decide if they want to go inside...............

.......without an appointment.

To my knowledge, there have been no reports of such behavior from others over the following years.

If it has happened to any of my occupied listings, I am unaware, but it would not surprise me in the least.  It used to happen frequently during the REO days, as if no one owned the properties.
