WHOA!  35 Offers?  Holy guacamole!  I don't think I've heard of having that many and have no clue how that spreadsheet would look! 

This market is a frenzy and some successful buyers are bidding it out of the park. It may come back to bite them.

John Meussner The inventory is very low in my area, and it is common for a listing to receive many offers.

Inventory is starting to build because there is such a shortage of inventroy and some sellers are finally deciding it might be the time to sell.

In our area we do have a shortage. We have about 2 months of inventory

It depends.  On the market.  On a particular neighborhood.  On the price range.  On the specific type of property.   It is not uncommon to hear similar stories to the one you share --- it can take a lot of patience to be a buyer sometimes -- let alone their agent/lender.    Good luck to your clients.    

It may change quickly, but I am happy with buyers fighting economic principles and continuing to drive up prices for a while longer.

Yes in our area also. Can't ever do it up larger than CA with 35.

Tight Inventory? No kidding! Ten years afer the big crash we are in the new normal. One can look to many reasons why but the graph below is for Sonoma County, California--"Wine Country", one county above the Golden Gate and neighbor of the famed "Napa Valley" (but we have a coast!). Inventory down 76%, sales down 36% while our average price has soared to $1,444,000 and median at record high of $625,000. Tight huh? 

We are not experiencing that except in lower priced homes. Rode through our neighborhood tonight and found 5 "coming soon" signs

Absolutely John Meussner!  We've had an inventory shortage last year, and this year it continues.  Currently in our community, we have '20' homes out of 2500 on the Market.   

At least in many areas and price points. That's the most I have heard about.

Sounds about right ... fixers seem to draw more competition than turn-key. Investors and contractors are flipping like crazy!

As with everything else real-estate related, this is a question that is definitely dependent upon the locality. Here, while inventory is on the lower end, it's nothing like that scenario you proposed. 

In some areas around here why yes, yes we do have a shortage. 

Fixer uppers are the most popular in my hood too. Everything that looks a bit lower than a market value gets a lot of attention, especially houses in good areas that can be expanded and improved.

35 is a lot.  In our market, I heard of one brokerage receiving 42 offers on a property. The most we personally have had is 22.

We don't get that in Oklahoma City but it is normal for many locations.

CA has been in an inventory shortage since 1999, it was just delayed in it's full impact by the crash, but it's simple math: more people are born into CA or relocate here than houses are built, hence a shortage.

Good to be a seller or landlord here, tough to be a buyer or tenant.

It is mixed. Clean newer homes are a shortage here, but homes that need work , are becoming plentiful

New builds are going to hit the market by mid summer.

Sellers will now have something to move into and this should create more movement.
