Depending on the property, I will pay for 2 hours of staging advice. But I don't pay for actual staging.

I have not.  Yet.  I try not to refrain from using the words never and always.  

Barbara - I offer free advice and consultation, and have done some minor staging myself. However, for full on staging of every room in a home, seller would pay. However, not sure if that would be the case for luxury homes.

I will recommend, introduce, facilitate, meet, schedule the installation, and de-installation of the stager/staging.  But I draw the line at paying.

When I'm done explaining the value of the staging, and how it will help us get a better purchase price... the sellers are willing (if not always "happy") to pay for the staging.

I will pay for a consultation with my favorite stager if the seller makes the decision to move out first and have the house staged it is their expense with the stager.

We have our own stager who is a REALTOR®.

Barbara Todaro I do know of a few around the N. Va area that do offer this as part of their services for the seller. I do not its part of Preparing the house for sale I also don't pay for their house to be painted or powerwashed for the same reasons.

I do offer them plenty of advice and other direct resources.

No I have never paid for staging. 

Barbara, a timely question as many homes have taste that does not suit buyers...my sellers have balked at paying for it but I will pay also for a consultation but they pay for the staging.  How about you?

The advice is free.  Renting furniture and/or moving furniture around...the homeowner pays.

I make suggestions, but a full staging would require the Seller to pay.  Not my house.

I pay for a staging consultation, which includes detailed notes of the stager's recommendations.  

I will bring personal items from my house such as plants, decorations, side tables and the like.  My patio furniture has shown up on multiple listings, too.

Any staging beyond what is mentioned above is a seller expense. 

I have never paid for staging but then I've never needed to.

My background is design so yes I can give them ideas on what works, what doesn't etc.... but if it needs full on staging or is vacant then sellers consult our stager as she's got a warehouse of stuff.

NOPE!  It's mostly a benefit to the seller, so it's a seller expense.

Most don't.

If the seller wants some helpful tips that comes along as one of my services with all my other experience they will get. If they need a full blown staging, I will put them in contact with a stager.

Same as Debe Maxwell, CRS - they get my time and I share my "expertise" and recommendations but the full on staging ... seller pays.

Most often, no. In a normal listing, tips on selling, staging, repairs are all included in my listing. I do have a seller now and again, most often out of town or being relocated who wants me to handle it all. We decide whether the seller will pay the stager direct, or pay me up front and i arrange with the stager
