No never, but our checks come from an Escrow account so unlikely that would happen.

No, our checks come from the Closing attorneys - if one bounces, there would have to be a pretty big issue. Let us know how it turns out, Debbie.

Guess a referral check could come from a brokerage or an agent who pay out a share of the commission. But if it came from an escrow company, that would be real trouble, they would have needed to make a mistake on their reconciling of the client account.

Debbie Reynolds No, never had this happen. I did have my bank put a ten day hold on certified funds from a closing.

Lucky for me that has never happened. I would call the person or company that issued the check and ask they whey the heck.

Nope. Most of our checks come from escrow. If that were to happen, the escrow company would be out of business very shortly.

Certified bank check going in means no bounce coming out of the closing. Have wired funds transfer delays but everything held in escrow until the coast is clear to close. Have had deposit personal check bounce and that can be fun ironing out the why and gives everyone a nervous feeling about screwing on the sale pending sign rider.

Have had both timber sale and land sale checks bounce. A few hours of tension, but we got it sorted out and the funds recieved. Mostly a matter of banks being slow at transfering funds between accounts.

No, never me. Had a friend who was in a different brokerage that went under and it happened to them though. As I recall the agents never were able to retrieve the funds due. Yikes.-Kasey

No, they come through escrow companies and they haven't gone belly up in decades out here.
5,279,979
Never happen to me but know of a title company that was out of business and close and walked away with funds.
3,986,529
I have not but If I did, a quick phone call to the bank and then to the broker if the account is still short.

My fee schedule and invoices include payment terms and conditions, posted on my website. Late fees are added for late payments. If needed, legal and collection costs are added to the total amount due.

Thankfully not. Escrow handles the money, so as long as they're not messing around we should be good. I've had my commission money wired in before.

Escrow handles this if & when. In todays world of Real Estate, this is a NO-NO
936,418
Nope. I have read stories about it happening, and those brokers had their licenses revoked in most cases.
4,788,132
Yikes. That has never happened to me. It will be interesting to see the answers of those who have had this experience.
