Everyone does not have the fortitude to sell real estate - period!  It would be like saying that everyone is capable of being a surgeon - some people get squeamish if their eggs are under-cooked!  Every profession is not for everyone - thank goodness for that too!

Great blog to start with,  I see newbie get the keys to the car and do not know how to start it.  That is where a good broker comes in.

Yes, and I thing that Barbara Todaro made an excellent point in that not everyone should be working in this field.

Yes. I heard a top producer comment once that she faked it till it became true. But in order for it to become a reality, one must really want it and work 25/8.

I believe some people are more cut out for real estate and sales in general than others.  Knowledge helps but it takes more than that.

Yes, "newbie" is a relative term - could be a complete starter or transitioning from another industry with lots of good background.

If you choose the wrong company when you start, moving to a new company could be costly.

So authority, knowledge, substance, foundation and confidence are all very important in getting started in this business. Choosing the right place to hang your hat is critical. If you choose the wrong place, you have to be extremely committed to your own success to still make it work.

I think the answer is absolutely.  My first year in business, if I wasn't learning the general ropes of marketing, farming and the basics of measuring a home and general photography, I was writing my own "dummy" offers to be corrected by our managing broker.  Within 2 years, I was a managing broker.

Yes, but perhaps not as much as micromanagement by a good broker in the critical first year. Bad habits from being unleashed on an unsuspecting public without the proper choppers are hard to unlearn.
