No, quite the opposite actually. Does your MLS have a "Haunted" box to check? You need to post about this when you successfully do sell a haunted house!

Haven't had that experience, just a couple requesting no haunted houses be shown. Good luck with your clients!

I have had clients who were fascinated by them, but never wanted to live in one, although Evelyn had a client that lived in one. She sold the home for them, but not because of it being haunted.

No, not in my experience. One agent claimed she felt a ghost in a home.

No but he sounds eccentric. Hope he likes what he finds. He's looking for something like the Winchester Mansion.

Gary,
I love the Pacific Grove area, and I can understand why someone would ask for that. I am sure you will something especially if one has a widow's walk. Also you really cannot claim it is haunted, because proof would be hard to find and authenticate...I think there may be a fine legal line that shoud not be ignored especially in California. So, if I were you, I would talk to my attorney and cover myself. Good luck. A

Some of the clients I've had have wanted homes with a history, but so far no ghost requests.

I did see a listing a year or so ago that promoted the house as haunted. No client has requested one though...
I also remember, seeing a house as a buyer that was completely vacant and hadn't been updated since at least the 60s-while in the basement we heard a strange bark coming from inside-we ran!

Never had this request. We did have one house in town that was considered haunted. May have even been on Ghost Hunters.

I had a realtor friend deal with this, and she looked for them, but found nothing. In the end it ended up that they were interested by it, but not serious about buying when it came down to it anyway.

"....a colorful history or story...."
The real estate agent who does not understand the value of the back story should get out of the business.
I use this principle to "sell colorful houses.
Examples of sales that set new price ceilings:
#1. Babe Ruth walked here, sat there and back in 'the day of his partying' very likely used those trees.
#2 Bates, whose figure appears atop the tank at the military museum, purposely built this one bedroom 3,000 SF house to make sure no one stayed overnight. This historic figure and story was gold for any WW2 knowledgeable or person with historical interest..
#3 This island was the start of the sponging industry in Tarpon Springs. As the accompanying images suggest, this was a former slave camp, and this was the heart of sponging before the Greeks displaced them.
#4. Former owners of this big view condo were, Floyd, Boyd and Bugle, all PHD's, all published academics in the disciplines of commerce and business. Bugle commissioned the mural by Script that is presently preserved in the game room. Boyd was first to publish academic studies on supply side economics. Don't you feel smarter just standing in this environment of so many cerebrals?.
Here is a good example that EVERYONE CAN DO.
This is the plot lay out that identifies every plant on the property.
The story about the house should be one the new owner is excited to share with their guests. Those moving to Florida from lands of the frozen chosen have been caught sharing their new expertise in botany with their visiting old friends.
It became a story they WANTED to tell.
Yes, it does take a little more work and skill from the agent, but the value to the seller and buyer is 'PRICELESS."

We have a lot of older homes and historic buildings on our Main Street. Most of those historic Main Street buildings are reported to be haunted. Although I've never had a client request a haunted house of building.
