I thought being self-employed would allow ME to decide how much I got paid.   It was a great decision.

People always will want to buy a home, get in it early.

I've been doing this, it seems, since God made dirt. During that expanse of time, real estate career have gone through several life changes. Today, my response would be, "What have I made of a real estate career that has proven to be a great choice?"

I enter through necessity, not some mountain top vision.

Today, I know I do not work and play well with others. Being independent works well for me.

Today, I know I control where I will invest my time and gold.

Today, I know I am the only one accountable for the outcome.

Today, I can identify no better vessel in which one can travel that touches so many at so many areas of need in their lives.

Today, I know I make a difference in peoples lives.

Other that that, I haven't much to say.

It just sort of happened and I went with it!

After 30 years in the business, i can say freedom, flexibility, control and satisfaction from happy clients

It was that or robbing banks. Which would you choose?

Low cost to enter, endless possibilities and free time at will.

There are many reasons.

You have to have people skills and be able to talk to people. You have to have a great memory because people will ask you a billion questions and you have to be able to answer on the spot. You have to be able to jump up and get out at a moment's notice sometimes to show a home. If you aren't able or willing to do these things, you might want to reconsider.

You might have more family time with a salaried job with regular hours.

When I joined i did not believe it is my best nor permanent choice. But after so many years, I do.

I spent a lot of years working hard for other people, and now I get to put my hard work to work for me. 

It was a good decision for me - at the time I got my license I couldn't find a real job!

25 years and still glad I made the decision to get into real estate! Love the flexibility and the chance to serve others in making a very important decision in their lives.

It turned out to be my favorite occupation

There are sevearl reasons, but the most important are the flexibility, being able to help people realize the American dream of owning a home and the ability to make a good living while doing this.

It has been a wonderful career with lots of opportunity for personal growth. Becoming an investor builds personal wealth.

You can have your own business with unlimited income potential, with little start up cost.

Many people get into it thinking they will be in control of their time.  NOT !  It does give flexibility but in order to be successful you will work long hours and mostly be at the mercy of your prospects schedule (not your own).  You need to have a true passion for the business and a committment to excellence or the competition will eat you alive.  The 87% failure rate of new licensee are proof of that.  

the pay is certainly better than what a teacher is paid.... I loved teaching, but I couldn't deal with so many weeks off and the low pay....horrible in MA.... 

It lets me be my own boss and to pick and choose with whom I work.

For MOST people who go into it, it is not a great choice.  Best to spend some time discerning this before investing.

Yes, Stacey the ability to work when you want is important when you have a family. Also, the feeling you get when you help someone find a place to call home is a big plus!
