As he and others in government are not subject to ACA how the hell would they know!

It is nothing like new homeowners experience. Most of my buyers go into the sale knowing what is happening and few have ever gotten blindsided by a huge unexpected expense that they were not prepared for. There are no similarities whatsoever.

Ridiculous. A price hike in Phoenix = 116%! I can't imagine what that is going to do to people who couldn't afford before. Now they really can't afford it. I talk to the 'nail spa' gals and they all don't make enough to buy 'affordable' insurance.
Some news guy on Fox likened it to the "Money Pit' movie.

It is EXACTLY like buying a new starter home......when you already had a perfectly good home, the government burnt it down, and forced you to get unnecessary and expensive upgrades and an ARM loan, as you stated.
Our "leaders" are out of touch talking heads. So frustrating to see this kind of thing.

No comparison whatsoever! You can at least PLAN for any upcoming expenses on a home purchase and they don't HAVE to be done right away unless something broke and it is typically covered by a home warranty! I hate to hear all the stories related to Obama Care and unfortunately, I haven't heard any happy ones...

I would agree, if you bought a starter home-came home from work and the house was moved to a different street, was smaller, and your mortgage instantly tripled.

If that is the case, then they should not have rushed into putting it through before making sure it worked.

Absolutely NO comparison and thank GOD the government doesn't have a say in what kind of home you purchase first go-round! SO frustrating hearing the talking heads who know NOT what they speak of! I'm ever so thankful that I don't have Obamacare - SO thankful!

For me, I don't find both of the experiences the same - not at all! - Bruce Walter. A new home's experience 'basically growing pains and glitches = expenses' can be done when they are able to pay for them, meaning in your own personal timeframe. Not so much with premium hikes in 2017, because you are not creating the hikes, they are being done for you and given to you. Not the same, and that's not even 'drilling down' into that statement. Good question!!

85% of all people on the system are subsidized. The actual number of people in the US affected by this price increase is 1.5 million that are over the 400% above poverty line. We also have states like mine that did not adopt an increase in medicaid that put people in harms way. Let's not also forget that the number one reason for bankruptcy is medical at an average of 650,000 a year. Let's get the parties to work together which may be like the myth of Sisyphus trying to roll the boulder uphill.

I liked the analogy he made of it to something that you fix if broken, unless it needs to be ripped out and fully replaced. That was much more accurate! I've considered taking the penalty to avoid paying for crap I don't need. Plus my private insurance PPO hardly covers anything anyways! I pretty much have to die for it to cover anything! Bloody Blue Cross of California!

My husbands insurance doubled so he cancelled it - now he's back to where he was before this insult to the American people. Not sure where they are getting the 25% increase - I guess they're not very good in math either.

No effect in our great land, except perhaps for US expatriates who are subject to those rules while living in our great land.

It would be nice it they took that unexpected expense from the other end of the transaction and required the medical establishment and the insurance companies to take the hit.
