I'm on my own and I usually take Career Compass 3-6 months before the renewal date; I get reminder emails from CAR.org & Career Compass, but that's about it. Sometimes I've taken continuing education classes along the way so the demand at renewal is lighter. Career Compass makes it fun, funny & full of great trench warfare-tips.

We need 30 hours every two years - all in required courses - plus everyone must take the rule and law update course.  These are so easy to optain over the two years by taking offered courses from MLS, the local board and title companies - all for no cost.

In Oklahoma we renew every 3 years and the latest I have ever been in 27 years in 1 year in advance. As a broker I have 21 houras I have to take for that designation and then I flesh that out with courses that benefit my business so I am also way over the minimum. Also I counsel agents not only to timeline but in a discussion about what might be best for them depending on the level of experience.

Usually, I'm "done" long before it's time to renew and typically, I end up with many more CE credits than required. I'm more looking at taking classes and courses from an educational than from "having to fulfill a requirement" standpoint.

In CA we can only start within 6 months of renewal.  Usually you get many reminders from various schools, so that serves as my notice.

AZ reminds us I think 60 days before renewal. The state notifies the broker to remind their agents. Core classes are done within the first year-I don't wait till the last minute.

We have to renew every two years also. No one reminds us, we must be adults and keep track.  I can only stand to sit still for a couple of hours at a time, so I usually take one CEU course at a time. My preference is the winter months, when the market is slower and I can spend more time on learning.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Study habits? Are you joking me? Since I have enough pressure in my life without adding self-imposed, I set aside a day and do all the tests I can do online. IIRC they space them out so you can't whiz through all the tests at one sitting, but I do the maximum and return to finish the rest. Generally about 3 months before my license expires. But study? LOL.
