When Barack Obama was awarded his Nobel Prize seven years ago I knew there was hope for all us to obtain one.

LIse,
I have always enjoyed Bob Dylan's writing and music. I also read his autobiography. Is he a wonderful writer worthy of what I thought this prize was about? Not in our opinion, Paul Simon is a much better song writer.
Ever since our president won this prize, it became obvious that is another spin and hype award and has nothing to do with what it was intended for.On the scientific front, I am hoping (since I am not expert on the subject) that is not so.
With enough hype and spin, yes, I think we could all win the Nobel Prize. A

The Nobel Prize has become so passe and is nothing more than a popularity contest for so many of the award categories. Science awards still give me hope.

I would think the Beatles should have got the award first. Obama got one doing what? Watch Michell growing vegetable?

I cast my vote with the Utah students who ask such brillant & thought provoking questions. Maybe I should change that to the Utah instructor who found an ingenius way of garnering Rain points.

The first thing I thought was, what? Did the Nobel Prize committee go to Desert Trip this past weekend?

Love the way you are thinking, Lise but it may be a blogger from another industry like cooking/recipes, chicken raising or home decorating that gets the nod.

No I don't Lise, who could compare to Bob Dylan? This man has been writing since the early 60's and was kicked around for a long time before being recognized as a "protest song" singer and then finally as just a musician and song writer.
That is slightly more than you and I blogging on Active Rain. I mean no disrespect to you and hope you did Bob Dylans music, played by him or covered by your favorite artist.

Great idea Lise Howe !! We could hold a contest and then nominate the best blogger to the committee. That would be different!

No, I think that Bob Dylan's collection of poetry surpasses what any of us have produced.

Would be nice but i think they look for big names. Such as if he write under Bob Smith instead of Bob Dyan would he have been noticed, never mind won?
