Dan - I can't believe that you are going to have questions like this on the real estate exam.

In real estate we do not have an options contract, but an offer to purchase. It can go back and forth many times before being signed by all becoming a contract

I've never seen it done at all in real estate.

Dan Carpenter - I have not come across 'options' in Real Estate - as yet.
Does it exist? I doubt.

Once. Many of my investors use these but do it verbally until someone bites.

I have seen plenty of of options, but never seen the paper sold to another party.

What type of option contracts are you referring to (e.g. real estate, stock market etc.)?

Normally I had exercised mine (past options & without trading) within 4-5 months (if there was no great need in closing immediately). In some wholesale real estate business models one would see some trading of real estate options before the options are exercised (Normally professionals who work the retail side of real estate don't see this).

Thank goodness I don't need to do something that can be a legal and ethical nightmare. Ask some investors from before 2008 about it.

I really don't understand your question. Are you asking about assignments of contracts?

Dan Carpenter If you are referring to option contracts for hard money, I have seen it a few times. Investors who buy these usually wait until they are well seasoned.
If you are referring to options contracts for real estate properties, I haven't seen any trade hands. They are usually exercised or left to die.
