If you put " 27 years" on your business card, website, etc, you have to change and update them every year, and maybe throw away unused marketing materials, so i would go with "since 1989", or " Over 25 years in business"

I do not use years in business.  I have seen many agents who boast, say 10 years that they have been in business, and are a struggle the whole way.  I prefer marketing the fact I am a full time agent.  Mark

I don't like remembering to update my profiles on various sites, so I use the second example.

If they ask me, I tell them but don't use it in any of my marketing.  After all, you could be great with a year and be not so competent with 20+...  ;)

Good thought on the year method. Actually I have it both ways & just say 25+ on the counting way.

But .... I wonder if people think you are an old lady by saying I've been selling since 1989 which ends up to be around when they were born! I was wondering that.

I put "Serving SE Wisconsin since 1994" in my signature with all emails and also have this on most of my marketing pieces.

I do both, depending on the circumstances. I also use the word "decades" as it sounds big.

I do both, sometimes in different parts of the same document.

I don't stress it more than it takes for them to know I've been around the block a few times.

Most usually, I will use "A real estate broker in California since 2009."  I have written blogs that included "in my 10th year" because I was an agent for 3 years, starting in 2006.

I use the year method but it's just on the websites..we always update yearly  but the second method sounds good too.

I do not market the years in service, but your answer number 2 would be best in the event I did. Usually  Trulia or other sites gives it away.

I just checked my AR profile and it says 20+ years and I'm guessing most people use option two if it's included at all.

I do both.  There is a branding ad I do on a map that I put "more than XX years of service" and on profiles and my site I have "since year" 

As I got older , I became more vague ! 35+ yrs.

I mention it often but not to put others down just to establish I know the market and have lots and lots of experience.

The "since" method so I don't have to update all the materials every year - at least not that particular aspect.

As a newbie, that is an interesting question Carla Muss-Jacobs, Principal Broker (503) 810-7192.  Fortunately, I'm part of 'Team Angeloni', and if folks were to know those 'years' they would basically be Roger's. 

I ndo number two because I believe that should always be a disclosure for instance on your email signature among other places that certifies that you are a REALTOR® since 1989 in my case.

Either way will work, though the counting method is pretty impressive when saying something over 20 years.

We use the average number of years in business for all the agents in the brokerage. We are not a training office and we average almost 12 years of experience per realtor.

Well, I do not market it that but clients almost always ask. 

For over XX years and change it every decade.
