I hate to disappoint, but I'm answering the actual question today because it's one of my favorite architectuaral features, especially in Tudor, French Country & Irish Castle. It's the round part! These are my shots of The turret at Dromoland Castle in Ireland. We stayed in this 500+ year old castle for 3 nights and lived like royalty. Turret is Italian and means "little tower" (torretta).

I believe it's where Rapunzel lived!

A good thing to have for defending your castle.

This is a very popular architectural element ta buyers like in my market. Some of the buyers call them witches hats.

It is a tower at the top of a building.  We lived in a Tudor-style home in CA with a second floor, and it had a round turret over the front door area - very beautiful Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers!

Isn't that the condition where you scream cuss words out of mid air and can't control your outbursts?  

You mean like a gun turret?  It rotates around.  I guess that would include a revolving restaurant, wouldn't it?  If that were the case, it should be called a Resturret.
