Most mailing programs allow you to schedule mail up to 7 or 10 days into the future.  If your email is already in one of those batches (say 10 days from now), the systems can't remove your email from that batch.  Therefore while your email may be updated instantly and won't be added to future batches/campaigns, it may take 10 days for the existing campaigns with your email to fully run their course.

They need time to sell your number before it gets removed

Because it takes them ten days to finish selliing your email address to other spammers...

I agree this removal should be instant in our technological world.

I actually once called a company and threatened legal action if they kept violating the canned spam act 

They want to bombard you with emails the next 10 days in hopes you change your setting.

Maybe they are passing on your email info to others.

I occasionally see that and think that it is a ploy to fill my inbox with a few more of their promos. What they don't know is I will never see them again as I block them immediately.

Because it is BS Praful Thakkar - I've seen similar messages.  Many never remove me.  

Just keep going and send it to spam and then trash just in case!

Because they hope that by the time Day 10 rolls around you'll have forgotten you've unsubscribed and you may not notice you are still on their spam lists.

So they can sell your info to another mailing list you also didn't subscribe to. @#$%^&*(

I think they can add us in a minutes, but takes 10 days to remove, CRAZY!  

I just put them in my spam filter.

I've often wondered that myself, Praful. The ones that say it can take a month really annoy me.

What they really mean to say is that their db has been updated with another live email, which will be promptly sold to others and you should notice an increase in spam over the next ten days.

It may be a way for them to be able to bill you, should their month end fall within the next week.  Had that issue in cancelling a phone number on my account and months later still fighting them on it.  It was a temporary line... of course they don't miss monthly billing on this non-used number that was cancelled online months ago!

That is plain dumb.  I read Ryan's response, but that is still so dumb.  They should be able to program things so this doesn't happen/filters list. Dumb dumb dumb.

I agree!  When they want your business, they want it now, but then they drag their feet when they have to stop.

It shouldn't, and I'm sure it does not - they are just covering themselves for the fact that it may take more than 24 hours for them to unsubscribe you - it would take seconds for them to subscribe you though - HA!  Adding you gives them business, while taking you away takes away your business, so they will drag their feet is my thought Praful Thakkar. 

I ignore it and continue with my business.

I do not give it any thoughts. Delete and move on.

Lack of a system. Likely a manual process they do not get to right away.
