While I agree that some costs are excessive, I also believe that protections of values and delivery of services are provided by installation and payment of those fees ... it's not a black or white issue in my opinion.  There is value in having some restrictions, fees, etc. in place ...

Thanks for the link, interesting report. That amount puts most homes into the next price bracket, so a $350K buyer no longer can afford that $434,671 home now. Although that helps the resale markets.
