They have to be at a pretty high price point to make economic sense.

Hi Tony & Suzanne - We quit doing those while we were working for our last big box brokerage - between the brokerage and the relo company, they wanted 2/3 of our commission and ragged on us all through every transaction. It just wasn't worth the hassle. We do an occasional one now and then directly with relo companies, but it's not really part of our business plan.

I have in the past, but no longer think the percentage charged is viable.

I have taken a Corporate Buyer or Seller lead but only if I am requested to by the client. I do not compete for these and don't like paying the fee.

No; we find that buyers take a great deal of our productive time, sellers take the same investment of resources; so to take a listing at a reduced commission is just not good business for us.

No, I do not. I remember when my company was a member of the RELO network & we were unpaid chauffeurs most of the time. Then they started paying us for showings - still not good business.

I used to, but the fees and commission splits have become onerous. After years, and years of accepting relocation... I eventually dropped relo, I still accepted USAA relo (serving active and retired military) for a while... until their fees became so high that it just wasn't worth my time anymore.
I had one property that I sold while under relo... my check was about $4,000 after relo-fees and splits. I recently sold the property again, for almost the exact same price without relo... and my check was closer to $11,000.
Sorry... just not worth it.

I don't compete with others when I get relocation referrals. And, I don't work with some outfits that charge high referral fees.

We have done a couple in the past, but after the both the brokerage cut and the relo company cut, your left with enough to fill your gas tank..... for your lawn mower. The only good thing is you get more buyers off of showings and your sales volumes show nicely. The one thing I hate is the relo company usually has it "own" listing forms and then we also have to have our own forms. Seriously, twice the paper work?? No, not for me.

Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers I don't anymore. They're a big PIA. They usually require a lot of paperwork and there is no guarantee you will get the listing. On the sale side, they hound you to death on a daily basis. Life is too short.

I did take listings for relocating military years ago, but the price point is no longer doable considering the paperwork and lower % they insist upon. As for 'competing'? Never!

At a time when I badly needed business I would take Corporate Buyers from a relo company.
I got nothing but the "crap" buyers that no one else wanted or those that no one else could handle. We closed all of them, but never got a "normal" buyer or one in a decent price point.
I no longer pursue Relo business...not that I would get any. Relo companies like to do business with large companies that will also list the property.

I have accepted one, but never a listing. I would consider, depending on the terms. Most relos have come directly to me from buyers or sellers first

Not as often as I used to... too many relo companies are asking for 40% of the commission for me to do more paperwork (especially when it comes to listings). There's one company that was asking for 45% referral. Mostly, when I do them it's because it's one of my past clients who's getting relocated and specifically asked for me.
