Yes, it does a bit, provided it's public. It helps even more if the commenters use some of your key words. Even better if they vary the usage of them.

I have heard that if the comments are relevant then it does.
One of the many reasons why AR posts gain more juice than most other blogging platforms.

Good morning Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers. I am not aware that comments add any juice.

I used another agent's name in a comment on one of my listing posts, and that post of MY LISTING was on that agent's first page when Googling their name..... imagine googling another agent's name and finding MY LISTING AND MY BLOG WITH CONTACT INFO AND EVERY OTHER DAMN THING ON IT.... FIRST PAGE NO LESS.... I showed that agent the results...and I also told that agent that IF FOR NO OTHER REASON, START BLOGGING TO PUSH ME TO THE BACK OF THE BUS WITH YOUR NAME!!!!!
She's a friend of mine and she absolutely DOES BLOG NOW.... I LAUGH THINKING ABOUT IT....

Does this not depend on the search engine in question?
Pertaining to big G - they are in the process of changing the rules right now.
Wade through the google gobbly-gook here.
The coinage of the kingdom now is 'sharing' instead of activity. Sharing is defined as G+ and links to other content. (Adding Social Plugin buttons to your site (for example, Google "+1" buttons) allows your users share content to social networks directly from your site. Your social plugins data shows you which content is being shared, and on which networks.)
If only that FACEBOOK share icon worked properly on Active Rain.
have no idea what Bing is doing.

It seems that most think this doesn't add juice. But what about a post that gets re-blogged? I would think *that* has to help. Any gurus know the answer?

I would not believe so, otherwise the author could load up a post with lots of bogus comments. Kind of like those in AR Land who <Like> their own posts...HEY People, it doesn't work and you look like glutens!

I have also heard it can help boost the post if there are keywords used. That is one reason we like good activity.
