An entire State would have one water system??  We have municipal water systems, drilled wells, dug wells, shore wells, cisterns, river systems . . .

I don't understand this question. I'm from North Carolina... we have public water, we have community wells, we have private wells, etc. What state would have just one water system?

I second, Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA 's answer.  I think each city has their own system, as least Santa Barbara does, and all our city landscapes are watered with recycled water.  A

There are NO "state" water systems I am familiar with.   Normally, they are controlled by a local water authority, a municipality or properties have an individual or community well.   Our home, here in Virginia, is on a community well system that my husband maintains.

I'm reading into YOUR question here but water "quality" is a current and appropriate concern.   Buyers should always request a water quality test, NOT by the water provider, but by an independant agency like a health dept. or other testing facility; of water drawn from the tap at the property.

With ALL the problems in the news, I think I would make that a standard clause in my contract offers if I was a buyer's agent.   I suggest it to MY borrowers all the time if they haven't already requested it !

We have county water in some places, city water in some places, private water systems with multiple homes in some places, shared wells in some places and private wells in some places. The state has nothing to do with it.

I'm in CO. We have all kinds of water. I have a mountain property with a well, because there is no domestic water supplier for that area. We also have large and small domestic water companies. And then there's irrigation water.

As tiny as Delaware is, we have a variety of water systems. Depending on the size of the lot and the availability of public water, you might have a well, or have water made available through a municipatlity or a private water company.
