Studies show that most people are dehydrated.  You can tell by the appearance of their skin and how dry their lips are.  The other issue with water is the type of water people are consuming.  If it has a high level of total disolved solids (TDS) your body won't absorb the watre properly.  then we get into what is actually in the water as well.  I go to fresh water springs in Maine and bottle my own.  The TDS is incredibly low (between 9-30) and free of chemicals etc.  Our bodies are 70% water we need to put only the best water in our systems.  Lastly, if you don't filter your water YOU become the filter.

Since the media says we needs to be drinking more water I would say it is way under what it should be. I will say about 50 oz.

64 ounces or less? I don't leave home without my water bottle...learned a long time ago that by the time you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated.
