Everybody wants to know about local activities and restaurants.

I get dozens of calls each summer asking about places to camp and boat rentals.  I wrote posts on both and direct those callers to my post. Generally I offer to email them a link or text them a link.  Most email me back a thank you and tell me they read other posts and to add them my email list please.

Did a local posting yesterday for "The Bootlegger's Cafe"  here in Rocky Mount, Virginia after a chance drop in experience.  I try to support our unique local businesses because they are the source of our local real estate activity.  Without the businesses to draw the people, who would buy and sell local area residences ?

Michael I have been experimenting and find its not only the content in the post but where I post it that counts . For example I did a post on Route 66 and had over 2000 views and 200 links because I posted it in a group on Facebook called Chicago History the Stranger side . I am hoping to drag people from this group to my Facebook business page .

I post as much as I can under Localism even if somethmes it doesn't quite fit. Most of mine are events related BUT the ones that get the most traffic are "how to" video's.

For me, it is not about the views, it is about the links.

I post a large variety of local topics, keeps it interesting for the readers and the writer.

Michael J. Perry - I write market reports for 7 towns. I also have written posts about Indian festivals, temples in Boston area and some luxury markets. Few of them have more than 1000 views.

Local activities and things to do in the area with family.

My restaurant and local event posts get a lot of views. I wrote a post about five years ago about a new pizza place opening in town. I still get the occasional call from someone wanting to order a pizza. 

My local festivals and events get lots of clicks. Specific neighborhood posts get lots of views too.

Writing about local events gets the biggest views but writing about a specific neighborhood gets the most customers

My post about opening of Dunkin Donuts got the most views. Go figure.

I've done restaurant reviews, market reviews.  Both seem to get the same amount of traction.  My goal is to be seen as a "real estate market/area expert" so both types speak to that.

I only do real estate subdivisions or town events. Larger town events always get the most traffic. But then people call me up asking when they get to sign up for the next craft show so it hasn't generated any biz.

Not getting any lately definitely not from AR blogging. Realtors began to take notice my books about local hisotories.  No, I was asked to write about Silicon Valley History. Got drafted.

The least effective for us is local events, and I have stopped doing them...

posts dealing with pets and local pet and pet shelter events tend to get a ton of traffic on my site.

My neighborhood market updates get lots of views, and rank in SEO.  This is what makes my phone ring.
