I have to mostly, not completely, disagree with you David Barr and some of the others: I've done more research in the last 18 months, in order to answer some of the posted questions or as a result of some of the answers. Therefore if the questions are making me think, learn and create blogs out of some of my answers, I feel they are mostly good. They can't all be thought provoking and yes, there are a lot of repeated questions.

I compliment you on posting such a fiery topic to get a rise out of us. This was a good one.

I think some questions are asked just to ask a question; there is no real answer required. Perhaps the purpose is just for points or to try to start a conversation, but those questions are not really true Q&As.

Many times I skim over the questions and don't feel as though I can offer any useful feedback, so I just "x" out. 

And I don't think they are necessarily deteriorating. I think the questions have been similar since day one.

I'm not sure they can really deteriorate, since they've never really been that high quality to begin.

Yours appears to be more of a statement, than a question.

I think there has been a good mix, not everything has to be about real estate,  i like the mix.

If I write a non -real estate question I post it as "Just for Fun"

As long as the option for "Just for Fun" questions exist, we will continue to see questions on a wide range of subjects that have nothing to do with real estate...

So what exactly are you looking for David, more text book real estate questions from some students so that you can give them rude answers??

I don't see much change from when it started. There are all types of questions posted and non-questions and yes many have nothing to do with real estate. Many seem invented and many are not one questions but a series of questions. We have a choice to read or not or answer or not. As for doing it for the points, asking a question get you 10 points a day and I don't see that as a motivator. I just think some people like the interaction.

I think Bob Stewart and some of the Ambassadors pointed out that different members/participants look for different things on AR, be it education, business practice tips, pointers or simply camaraderie or humor. We choose what we post and what we read.

It's a lot like finding love, David Barr .  Ya gotta kiss a lot of frogs to find your Prince (or Princess).

David, just about all of the real estate related questions, or AR "how to" questions have already been asked dozens of times-over and over. 

What is there new to ask other that specific, "what advise would you give me on this problem in my transaction" question, and that is scary providing answers for liability reason.

So in the meantime, may I suggest that if people are concerned about this- just answer the questions that have relevance, and pass on the others.

If people are in it for the points then they probably welcome the opportunity to answer 15-20 questions no matter what they are.  There are very few consumers that actually come to the AR website.  If they are looking for real estate information they are visiting the internet giants.

There are no stupid quality questions just a lot ARs trying to keep themselves occupied and stay connected.

Weather, traffic relate to RE as we do not like to show homes in bad weather.

If you probit posting about weather, then you get Utah school students endless same old s&(# day after day.  

Very true David Barr. I noticed that a lot of the questions asked lately have nothing to do with Real Estate.    

Not sure I totally agree although I have seen some less than serious thought provoking ones. But, it is always interesting!

I think it goes in cycles - we're definitely spending less time here than we used to, though.

So let's do our part, you and me, to improve them.  It is the unspoken rule that this site is only as good as the people using it.  I try to ask industry related questions and more importantly; I try to give appropriate answers and comments.

It is the responsibility of us all to maintain the dignity of the venue. 

David Barr  This is a nice topic and one AR needs to address especially for the points. Lately it seems that many questions are posted (and answered) to pick up points ..... for lack of a better term "points whores"

If the question is weird I keep on moving but to be honest I have learned a lot from some and snorted laughed at others.  Seems like a good mix.

So the quality of questions were better before I joined AR?  Were they strictly real estate related, while now they are both - business and pleasure - is that what you are stating David Barr?
