Depending on the post, it could include state, county, city and neighborhood. Sometimes state, county and city and sometimes just state and county.

I really don't know if it has any effect on who ends up seeing the posts. 

If it is relevant to the hyper local area, then yes.  Otherwise, no.

ALWAYS.  I do mortgages all over the state of Virginia so I make sure I indicate the state   I only narrow it from there if I am targeting a specific community   

Not every time but about 50% of the time. If it is about my market area or a topic that would help my buyers and sellers then yes I do.
