I'll say there is. I'm sorry that I can't say one nice thing about NAR & it's leadership (or lack thereof) over the past 30+ years. I don't care how many agents there are but if it gets too low, my dues will go up & the directors will still be driving their Jaguars.

I do not feel I am affected by this other than I have nothing kind or nice to say about NAR and I am forced, essentially forced to be a member in order to get MLS access. That is just WRONG.

The boards out here merged for the most part many years ago. It's nice to not have to join six boards to sell real estate anymore. Further more, the sharing of MLS data is nice too. Join one board, post in another and not have to follow the second one's rules. Oh, I mean post in one and it shows up everywhere. Now if we can just get the out of area ones to stop violating rules they're not required to follow. LOL!
NAR is a joke. Membership is conscripted by the local boards wanting to be 100% realtors, even though the public hasn't the foggiest clue in heck what that means.

NAR is pushing consolidation. I'm all for it as it might bring costs down if we don't have to pay the redundant association executives and staff.

Our Association is holding strong and has about the same number of members as in the past 5 years.

In Colorado we had a Department of Justice law suit which enabled licensees to choose whether or not to be a REALTOR. We have 25% of licensed agents as non-REALTORS. If NAR does not change things, this number will surely increase.

I don't feel affected; however in my area I think there are many boards that could be combined into one.

No, not really with the exception of dues increases!

Not really. Lots of NAR bashing here and I could join in, but it is not all bad. IMO the dues are not commensurate with the value to members. It needs a major overhaul.

Well, if you are not a member of NAR and CAR, you can not use winforms, if you are not a member of a local board, you can not use mls. I need two of those things, otherwise, I'd opt out.

Reading the answers to your question, it is apparent that a majority of Agents and Brokers hate NAR. The question is, how do we get rid of NAR?

Kevin J. May We soon forget that it was the NAR who kept banks out of our business. If the banks had their way, they would have had real estate agents in every branch. The banks would have been disasterous to our business since banks are more interested in making loans than selling real estate. They may have put traditional real estate offices out od business.

Little effect on members of Greater Erie Board of Realtors but the smaller boards around Erie have consolidated or mergered, a few with GEBOR.

Can't say I have felt a big impact. I like that we are gatting access to other MLSs here, or they are combining. There is a lawsuit here in San Diego by 3 Boards against the larger on in San Diego. Can't say I can explain what it is all about, or that I should in this venue

With technology online bidding for regular sales. The need for buyer agent is less and less. Expect 70 listing 30 buyer ratio.

Personally, I like that more and more boards are sharing the same MLS. We are Realtors in California and our license is good for the entire state. Why shouldn't we have access to all of it?

Interesting facts. I think that as milleniums enter our market, we might see an improvement. They are tech savy, quick on their feet, and more analytical. (This is coming from someone who needs to write down every interaction)
To get back to your question...I don't think it really matters.
