I follow the other person in return. I sometimes send a thank you, but not always. I also sometimes get a thank you, but not always from someone I follow. I consider it thanks enough if they follow me back. 

I am embarrassed to say I am guilty of that and yet am so pleased when someone thanks me.  I need to start doing that, you are 100% right, Annelle Tubb.  Thanks for the reminder! 

If not already following them, we immediately reciprocate and we do send them a thank you. It is just plain proper etiquette

I ALWAYS send a Thank You note and if they are in my service area, I remind them of that and offer my assistance and services if they need them.

Normally I send an emil to thank them, and also reciprocate. But I will admit I have missed a few Thank Yous

I try but I agree and will try harder in the future.

You will always get a deep "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart, my email is often slow about sending these out though.

Annelle Tubb thank you for this question.  Many members that I have followed have thanked me.  I just thanked someone that followed me and I followed them back.  Thank you for the reminder.

Interesting that you bring this up. On twitter, I always thank someone for the follow but I have not done that on AR.  I always follow back though.  I am going to rethink my process about a follow on AR. Thanks for bringing it up!

I usually reciprocate and then look for their blog to comment on.  I have sent thank you notifications as well.

Annelle, I normally send a Thank You email. I was surprised when I received a written note at my office from an individual I followed in AR.

So far it seems like I am the only one that sends a thank you via email when someone follows me, and I always do. Out of the 277 followers maybe 2 sent a thank you to me. I do also reciprocate the follow.

Annelle Tubb I think it's a good ideas to send Thanks email for sure. I usually return the Thank by following them in many cases. Not always, though.

I am finding more and more followers don't have blogs of themselves yet, so following is not really anything of consequence.  And I have emailed to thank folks for following, but sometimes I just don't have time. 

I will email and make a comment to say thank you. There have been times I got busy and forgot and have felt bad about not getting around to it. I am okay if I don't get a thank you from someone I follow, I know they appreciate it. We are all busy and for me this site is about business first and I am not keeping score.

I like to send a thank you email to them. I try to get to everyone but I don't always succeed. When I first started on AR, we called them "subscribers" and we would send an annual Christmas letter to each one thanking them for being one of our subscribers. I could only do that until we got to about 1000 subscribers. After that it was no longer manageable. So we do try to reach out with a thank you email.

I reciprocate which many do not. Sometimes with a thanks but not always; yes busy does get in the way of that for me.

I 'Follow' them, and send them a short 'Contact Me' message, after I have read their Profile Annelle Tubb.  Now that being said, I may not have done that when I first started on AR, so for that short period, I hope that others have not thought of me as rude, though I always 'Followed' them in return.  Then there were some that had no 'Contact Me' message in their Profile, so I only 'Followed' them in return . . .

I try very hard to send a thank you, but there are times business is just too crazy.   I do return the favor by following them too.

I follow back if they are a Realtor.  That's plenty of thanks in my opinion.

I typically do not send thank you's, nor do I expect them in return when I follow someone. I think it's kind of understood that it's appreciated and there are enough emails flying around. Having said that, I agree, it's always nice to see a thank you note.

I don't really pay close enough attention to who follows me really.  While I appreciate it a lot, I don't necessarily reciprocate.  If somebody is offended by that then...  okay...  I guess.  It's nothing personal, I've just got a business to run.  AR to me is about a balance between gaining business for us and a small part of it being social.  

In a word, Annelle Tubb - yes. Some people are too busy to send a thank you ... for follows, for gifts, for favors ... and the list goes on.

I thank every person by email on AR who follows by blog.... I do it immediately and with many I have conversation by email.... if I miss anyone, it's because they did not fill out the email address portion!!!!

It depends.   Sometimes I send a message.  Sometimes I reciprocate. Sometimes I'm too busy.  Stuff happens.

I do send a thank you, but I know occassionally I miss a notification and don't do it. I don't necessarily reciprocate right back.... there might not yet be anything much to follow.

I have close to 300 followers.  Some haven't posted anything in years, other maybe once every two months or so.  So no I do not follow a lot of them.  As far as a thank you, no ma'am not yet.

Good morning Annelle. In return, I like to leave a comment on a post that they did, if they don't have a post, I do not.

 I send them an email.

If I notice, I would visit the blog, leave a few comments, likes, often follow back, no DM since AR has a weird way of delivering them as '' you got a new lead!'' .

I am sure some have followed me without a note or me following them back right away.  And yes, some times I find myself too busy. It's nearly midnight and I just got on activerain.  I have had a very busy February.  But eventually things will slow down and I'll get caught up again.

It depends.  I have done both but I also so e times comment on one of  their blog posts and thank them there as well.  Lately, however, I've been getting a lot of fake followers so I'm afraid I might have missed getting back to some of the genuine ones.

I don't always have the time to send an email and thank them and most people don't thank me either.

Of all the answers I offered saved lots of time and money. I don't get an thank you. After giving the answer the same person asking others same question again. They say Sam  or whoever already gave you the right ans.
