The one where you can make a living would be best.

You are not going to be selling real estate in all of Utah. You will only be selling near your local area. So, what type of real estate is around you and what type is selling a lot. You don't want to specialize in something that has limited possibilities.

Im in New Jersey and I don't know a thing about Utah but I'd go with whatever type holds the most interest for you.

Residential, pick a niche but discover what works for you.

Something that you have an interest in.

What field interests you the most?  You will excel with your interest.

I do not know about Utah.

The one you have a passion for. Got to love what you do. 

Residential for me. I heard commercial is another ball game.

Residential would be a good place to start and learn.

I would say golf or ski area.

I know little about Utah but I would go with residential. You might get in touch with some other agents there to pick their brains

What types do you have available to you . and what kinds can you make a living at.

I think that is entirely up to you. You might find you have a feel for listing farm and ranch properties, or you might find you like dealing with commercial real estate. It's your choice. 

I have never lived in Utah, though would consider making my niche in the community where you live, since might be a good start, because you would know it very well, and people there would know you Deborah Aston.  Best of Luck!! 

I say residential.  It is easier to get up and going with residential.

There are many niches within fields.  What are you most passionate about?  Commercial?  Residential?  Choose a field, then niche down from there, depending on what is of most interest to you.   Get guidance from local experts. 

Thanks for identifying yourself as a student and for asking the first new question from the Utah school in a LONG time!  Usually it's the same five questions over and over and over again!

I'd decide first if I wanted to do residential or commercial.  Then I'd pick a niche or a small to medium sized segment to focus on.  Maybe target being the expert in certain types of transactions or for certain groups of people, such as people who need a Kosher house.

Start out very local.  You may need to in the beginning to save gas.
