I think it's here to stay. They tried replacing it a few years back with warmer "copper" tones and it was a bust. People like that "professional kitchen" look.

For five years I been waiting...and nothing.

Faux fur would be RH recommendation. Horrors! (RH the new name for Restoration Hardware)

But I am liking the peened stainless with bold trim.

Imagine a Craftsman kitchen with EVERYTHING on lock down casters.

Stainless counters, peened appliance skins, red highlights. Let's not stop there, how about a movable wall to assist in the inspired, at a whim, redesign.

I think it will be something like stainless, but matte instead of shiny. Something that doesn't show so many fingerprints and that doesn't require special cleaning materials.

Personally, never been a fan of stainless or granite. Too much work to keep them both clean and shiny. Always cracks me up that people buy special cleaners for granite - umm check out the buildings and walkways and historic places made of granite. They never required a special cleaner and they're still functioning as intended.

Paul,

I love to cook, and I really dislike the stainless steel look.  While paying my way through college and grad school, I worked in a country club's kitchen, and there, everything was stainless.  Even though there was a crew twice a day that kept it all clean, it was a pain,  I would not buy stainless steel, there are other options.  A

Stainless is still king out here.  Saw a little about black stainless, but I don't think that'll catch on until all the cooking shows do it and Viking and the other high-end stove companies do it.  Personally, I'm not a fan of black.  I took it out of my house for everything except my oven.

No, I don't wonder about this type of issue.  It is no different than the fashion industry and other industries.  New colours and styles need to be introduced on a regular basis in order to get consumers to buy the latest and keep the businesses in business.
