When I was in a college class 20+ years ago, our professor told us Masterlock spent their entire advertising budget on one 30 second Superbowl ad each year. I think it was a million dollars back then!

Enough that only a large company could pay for it.

Wow, it seems to be around $5 million now.  I remember when it jumped from 900,000 to 1 million.

Of course this is the media time and does not the cost for making the spot, nor talent and reuse (which can get pretty costly on some of these).
