Melissa,
It is so different from market place to market place. We have consulted all over the United States, twice in Canada, one in Mexico and once in Central America...and there is Paris, France also...Some of our most successful agents do not have an FB account! They still are top ranked in WSJ. Each marketplace even here in Santa Barbara with a populated of over 100,000 people each market place is unique. What works 3 miles from where we live in social media, has no significance here. That is the major misconception in our opinion. A

I agree, there is a misconception about the amount being better. The amount doesn't mean much unless it's quality content that serves the readers. There is no perfect quantity. If I can get one quality post per week, that's fine with me. Engagement varies so I can't answer that yet.

I just took a seminar on this topic, and the suggested frequency was three to four times a week, and the topics should be of use or interest to the intended audience, not a disguised marketing or advertising ploy. Since my personal interests are pretty far-ranging, I don't have a lot of trouble coming up with topics I enjoy writing about and that should also be of interest to my readers. But frequency is a problem. I just don't seem to have organized myself well enough to produce a steady 3-4 messages a week.

Depends. Sometimes a few times a week. Sometimes I skip a week. You need to be consistent but when I get frisky I end up posting a bit more often.

I have a presence, but cannot attribute a sale to posting on social media. I keep in touch with clients and friends.

I post my localism blogs on FB since they should be of interest to the community, but not listings or anything that is blatantly marketing or self-promotion.

Good morning Melissa. I post 7-10 blogs per week. Blogging is my best client. Each blog tells a story.

Good morning Melissa. The elite social media I really engage with is this platform. I don't have time as I see no value. Face-to-face and touching folks real time is better than touching them virtually.

I'm daily on AR with comments and answers, sometimes blog posts, from now on; daily 1 post on Instagram and Twitter, 10 min on FB and LI+ all answers to DM if any.

Melissa M. Kellogg - just sufficient to let people know - I exist and I am in Real Estate.....

Twitter - once a day. Facebook - once a day. Instagram - whenever I get around to it. Pinterest - many times a week, but not every day. I post about real estate maybe 5% of the time, so not very much. Most people respond to my posts about running, so I post the most about that topic. No one responds to my real estate posts so I keep that minimal.

Melissa, best of luck on the article!
For me, my posts with the most interaction have absolutely NOTHING to do with real estate. Local hot events (fires, floods, etc.) and blogs about my search and rescue calls get the most interaction.
I post real estate articles four times per day, two before and two after lunch. Those come from my website and get auto posted to Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. Infographics and listings get posted to Instagram.
So far I've received no business from it, but I've only been at it less than six months. Some people get great results, for me it is about building my brand image, awareness and my website's reputation score as an industry expert.

Current and past clients tag me in the comment section of people talking about buying or selling a home. Other than jump on there and make a comment I pretty much just comment and like things.

I post something at least daily, always on AR, sometimes on FB, Linkedin, and others.

I post on ActiveRain darn near everyday. I don't think the frequency matters as long as you are consistent and have great content to share.

I post very little on social media. My blogs are my primary focus. When I do post on FB it is mainly personal stuff ... very little pertaining to business.

Focus on a few that your contacts are interested in...... We have 6 here for free we only focus on what we use not all of them.

Some but not every move I make. Nobody needs to know about everything I eat, movie I see and party I attend.

I do post a lot on Facebook because I am active in many groups.
Shared personal interests will cause engagement. I use photographs to attact responses.
