As Jeff Pearl said it is in Practice 16-4, but I would hope there is an unwritten code between realtors, not to do so.  From an outsider, it just doesn't seem right, and if it ever happens, I would hope you would spread it around to your fellow realtors.

Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers I don't understand why it is alright for the listing agent to contact the seller if you don't tell them when the listing expires. The property is still under a brokerage contract unti it does expire. Unless of course the seller contacts another agent while it is still listed.

Of course! They operate from the mindset if you don't ask the answer is always no. And sometimes when you do ask the agent can be confident of exactly the response. 

However, that question is NEVER answered to the satisfaction of the caller.

It's ugly cousin, "What was the sold price?" for a pending sale is another fun one to field.

Never. If the reason is that you are getting the listing upon expiration, the SELLER should be able to tell you.
