A home that has all the trappings of comfort has advantages

Good morning Shanna. I have all I need a home and be OK for quite a long time.

It is really tough seeing what is going on, hope you and your family come through it OK.

I would rather be trapped at home because I have so much to do that I could stay busy for weeks.

At Home - I'm an Only Child and can entertain myself !

I would prefer to be trapped at home with my Bride and children Shanna Hall . BTW my home was destroyed in a flood in 2011. I'm glad your folks are up high but what about services to the home like electricity? Also many of the homes that were not destroyed by our flood had no working sewers because the lift stations were all under water. There are all kinds of problems with floods. Keep in touch with them so they don't start to panic!

Leave and come to live with you till the flooding is over.

I would stay away from the maddening crowd if I had enough food and water.

If they have food and supplies, I would let them be.  We had major floods in Napa, and we were on a hilltop safe.  We stayed put and we had all services intact including food and heat.  A

I'd rather be in my house. I have kids and pets....

OH gosh, that is so scary.  That's a tough call.  I'd rather be home w/ my pets.

I'd rather be trapped at home.... your parents should not venture out if there's no chance of them being in danger....

Hi Shanna, sorry to see all that flooding going on. Depending on how high the water is, I would prefer home even if the power went out.

I would want to be at home, but only with the other members of my family.  I can see your dilemma and hope all is well with your family!

In a flood, away from home.  In a blizzard, at home.

I guess in the case of your parents, I would rather be trapped at home. That way I have the tools and things I need to keep going, and I'm there to use the tools and materials to take care of things. 

I hope your parents are going to be OK. Update us, please. 

Home is always best, provided that it is functioning, if the electric is out then they may prefer to spend the time at your home.

Most people would rather be with their home.  It is what they have worked long and hard for.  I would be hard put to abandon ship.  I will be interested in reading the other answers.  mark

Shanna, so glad your parents live on high ground and are safe!!!  Probably the safe play would have been for them to go to your house before the waters rose so dangerously, but right now the best thing to do would probably be to wait it out.  I would prefer to be at the safe location before the danger started even if it meant not being home.

I would get out if I could flood waters can be pretty unpredictable.

I would rather be trapped at home if we still had gas and electricity. 

So sorry to hear Shanna, and have heard of the flooding in your area.   Hope the water retreats and your parents can get out of their home.  I would prefer to be home. 

I guess it would be how difficult to get to your house.  Trapped at their house would be better than trapped at a strangers.

Actually, neither. But if I had to choose, it would depend where the bigger risk would be. Hope all turns out as well as possible for your family.

 Good morning Shanna. At home. I've heard that St. Louis is getting hammered by the rising waters of the Mississippi.

Are your parents in basic good health?  They probably prefer to be at their home where they can keep an eye on things.  If they have any health issues, you would probably prefer them with you, I'm sure.

I know I would prefer to be home...unless,the other choice was a beach in Tahiti!

Shanna, I almost always recommend to shelter in place.  I have 13 years in disaster response.  Personally, my car can supply me for a day or two, but my house can carry me for MUCH longer.  Food, drinks, bathrooms, blankets, books, firearms, medical supplies.  I'd much rather be at home with enough supplies to last the better part of a month and the ability to defend them.

As one currently trapped out of town, I would pick home if the conditions were safe

As today I'd say - I will relocate....
