I actually prefer a gift because it seems more personal than a gift card. If someone takes the time to think of me and purchase a gift, that they believe I will cherish, then I feel blessed by their thoughtfulness. A gift card seems too impersonal.

I do prefer a gift that is carefully selected with me in mind. I am thankful for any gift.
I like gifts particularly one's that are personal and someone put a lot of thought into it. A
Definitely a gift..gift cards are so cold and impersonal.
I enjoy gifts more than gift cards. (Most of the time, though there have been some exceptions.)
Wrapped up my shopping yesterday.
Last purchase was at Henry Bendel NY.
Did not get a gift card.
It was a purse at the right price....FOR ME!
So, I prefer receiving the gift.
My motto has been don't buy anything for another you would not buy for yourself.

I don't believe I've ever in my life returned a gift. I also have never received a gift card - may that run continue!!
Gita Bantwal why can't you buy gifts?
I have reached a point in life with too much stuff so I dont need any gifts, and I dont agree with the concept of my friends wasting their money on gift cards that may or may not ever get used.
So I would prefer to just have a visit, a cup of coffee, and a warm conversation.
Still a gift, funny about that, I put time into buying my gifts for people.
I prefer gift cards these days so I can just pick out what I like and want. I used to prefer gifts, but it just took too much time to exchange for correct sizes, colors, etc.
Both. Sometimes a gift card is just what you need!
I forget to use the gift cards
Cards are fine!
Card, hands down
Since no one has time these days to give any "thought" to a gift I prefer a gift card. I hate returning gifts!!!!
I am over exchanging gifts- we are all in a place wheere we all buy what we want... doesn't make sense anymore...
Good morning Gita. I use gift cards a lot, especially when I know what the person likes or dislikes.
Gita Bantwal if we do not know the personal choices, gift card is a better option.
I enjoy gift cards especially for restaurants.
Gifts are definitely more personal, but these days I don't really need anything so cards (or cash) works best.
Nothing like opening a gift, and yes I miss it.
A gift card is nice as long as the store is near me. I live in a very rural area, and we don't have all of the chain stores anywhere close to us.
Gita Bantwal I prefer gift card.
I like gift cards.... and I like to give gift cards....Merry Christmas, Gita....
I like both, but enjoy opening a gift more than a gift card.
A nice thought is preferable. I don't really "need" more things.
For those that are difficult to gift...the card answers well
Gift cards have many complexities as they are restricted where you can use them, what country you can use many of them and even how to clear off the small remaining balance.
I like gifts, but a gift card is sometimes appropriate
I prefer gifts in the form of food or beverages.
I don't care for either. I would rather the company of friends and family.
If it isnt something i want or need, i LOVE gift cards because i can get what i do want or need
