I hang one for each family member
That's a very good question. I don't know the answer.

I don't know but we no longer hang stockings on the fireplace since the kids are all gone.
We don't do just one sock. We do one for each person. But they aren't socks we would ever wear!

See we were losing socks even before dryers!
The other one was lost...........
If gifts did come in socks from Santa, if this was all real...people would hang burlap sacks
I have not heard of hanging just one sock.
Don't know! We have four hung, one for each
No one likes gluttony?
I have no idea... maybe the other sock is lost? I did not grow up hanging socks and never had a fireplace, either, as a child.
