I think so. I give a self bottled local wine to my clients.....We still have a few wineries in the neighborhood.

The custom label sticker with my name & this photo on it costs as much as wine..... That is another story.

LOL...I gave wine as a gift to my broker and his wife at our company dinner. His wife freaked out. I found the bottle in another part of the state on my travels. His wife freaked out because she can't find that wine around here and had it on her travels to the state of PA. She absolutely loved it. And didn't know where she was going to get it. Serendipity? It sure was.

It can be.  Someone bought me a really great bottle of scotch because they know I love it....1 bottle's lasted me a full year and still has plenty left.  

If you know the client or person drinks than fine. Otherwise try a bottle of wine with cheese and crackers; you will know in a hurry!

I think it depends on the person the gift is for. Novelty bottles are always good gifts for the bottle collector, if the person isn't a drinker..

Definitely depends on the person.  We used to get wine all the time.  Just try to know the person to see if it would be appropriate and be ready to appologize if you give it to an AA member or prohibitionist by accident!

I think wine is a perfect gift. Limit hard liquor to those I know well!

It depends. I bring cases of wine and spirits to our escrow officers and local lenders. They love it and they always tell me about the occasion they partake. :D

Not usually, but it could depend on well you know the recipient. Do you both visit wineries, breweries, etc to test new products and flavors? if so, alchohol might be ok as a gift.

My preference is NO to the gift of alcohol.

Does it possess special significance to the reciepiant?

Will it be consumed while visiting?
