There's nothing like being your own broker, freedom to make your own decisions. You just need the confidence, knowledge and experience to make a go of it. As to "knowledge" and "experience", you keep building on it as you go along. There's always something new to learn from each client and transaction. That's what's so exciting.

My broker is my wife so I should say yes. However, REALTORS® don't work for their broker and in my opinion the broker should work for the agent.

Bob,
I became a broker just as fast as I could, am an active broker in two states, and have never looked back. Working for others may be helpful to some people but it was a hindrance to me.

Hi Bob... I don't work for any broker. I hang my license with a brokerage firm that has a broker owner and I believe he works for me. I have been fully licensed as a broker my entire career so report to no one but myself--that can be hard sometimes! People who've worked for me liked doing so, but I think they liked working for me better than I like working for myself.

With complete and total respect to my (3) previous Brokers, I will never go back to working under someone else.

I am a broker...all licensees in CO start off as brokers, but I don't own my own company. I work with a broker that as been in business since dirt was invented. He's sharp and knows the industry. I love my office and the people here.

I don't work for anyone. I'm in business WITH my broker. Having been licensed since 1978 I've never really saw the reason to become a broker. I had an associate of mine who sold maybe 6 houses in the first two years of being licensed so the great state of California said he could take his broker's test. He did and became a broker. If you tell me you're a broker Im not impressed. It carried litle weight when I'm sitting across from Mr. and Mrs. Seller or Buyer!

Larry could be one if he wanted, but we prefer to work under someone eles's umbrella. We work out of our home office and as long as we work ethically and under MLS rules, we never have to deal with our broker.

I LOVE WORKING for myself. It is the ultimate in freedom and accomplishment. Imagine the harder you work, the more the reward you get. Something that seems lost with a generation starting right in DC.

I prefer working with a broker even though I'm qualified to become one. I still work for myself (really the clients), but do like the streamlined process which I'm a part of.

I guess the equivalent for me would be our branch manager. I do like working with him (I don't work for him, though), but there are times I think I'd be better off in my own office, as he's more laid back and I'm more type-A "get it done now". We don't clash per se, but sometimes I need to light fires.

The big name brokers seem to have chip on their shoulders. They love to fire avg agents and kiss B&## on top performers.
In our brokerage owner works for us. He is RE lawyer and will change paper, fix printers. A low key good guy.
