I have to calculate the commission when I prepare the transaction sheet for my company that accompanies the contractual paperwork. I don't have any ideas on spending... when I receive my commission my husband takes care of the rest.

Subconsciously probably immediately calculated but I would be aware of the range beforehand. Then it goes to the bank.

I learned a long time ago that there is no guarantee of ever getting paid until the check is cashed and in the bank.  Even then I wait at least 6 Months before I'm relatively sure they won't sue.  I don't think of the money as mine so it not spent or designated for until it's in the bank.

I look at the numbers after it gets accepted (to make sure escrow has the commission instructions correct).  I don't count my money until escrow closes though.  After that the money gets split into savings accounts and operating accounts and I go from there.  Next on my spending list: M1 Garand, gun safe, power generator and an SUV.... and maybe a Sig or a Glock.

I can always figure commission in my head but on spending I am more of an income person rather than outgo. We have a budget that includes how much we invest in profits. We also make sure that taxes are paid, in fact taxes for 2015 has already been paid with a bit of overage.

I think about the commission when my assistant emails me a task to approve the disbursement authorization (this instucts the title company how to split the commission check to our office so I can get paid at the table). I need to approve it before she sends it to the title company.

When offer is accepted.  You want to know if it will go through and if it does. The broker gets a cut of it. Then I worry about what bills I can pay out of what is left of it....
