Hi Joshua.  That's an interesting concept and would certainly give Rainers incentive to write meaningful content.  But, logistically, it probably isn't practical.

Many great posts don't get featured.  And, in my opinion, many mediocre posts do get featured.  The only way to be assured YOUR posts get to the public is to become a Rainmaker.

Joshua, you write some great stuff.  I think it would benefit you do become a Rainmaker.

Featured blogs are available to the public as long as they are public posts.  If the author is not a RainMaker or has marked it "Members Only", it does not become public.  Sounds reasonable to me.

Featured blogs by Rainmakers that mark thier post to go public are not restricted to being just members only posts. Members that are Rainers (non paying members) do not have this option and should not be able to post their posts featured or otherwise to the public. That is one of the benefits of a paid membership or having reached Rainmaker status.

Actually Active Rain members already have that option. By electing to be a member or Rainmaker determines whether it can be public or not.

If you are asking whether authors of Featured Blogs should receive exceptional privileges I would say 'NO."
