I have just begun studying this. According to the experts, post something everyday. Six days local news and events, the seventh post an interesting article about real estate. Being in Branson, I have plenty of local news. I have just started doing this for my hotel and just built my real estate business page. I don't think I can keep up with a daily post, but that is recommended. Search Facebook here on Active Rain for ideas.

I find that posting links to interesting blogs I wrote and national articles I find impresses people that my content is worth reading and because of that I have over 1,000 friends on my personal page, over 300 likes on one business page and about 150 on one I created about a month ago. Not fantastic but pretty good and growing. You have to post something everyday and not pictures of your family.

I do not contact individuals by name. I let my clients know when their homes are on the FB Business page and they pass the info on to their friends and family. I post holiday greetings and some local YouTube events such as the Balloon Fiesta etc on the business page.

I post a lot of fun stuff, things in the community, local real estate reports, and listings. I don't get as much traffic when I post the real estate things but if I post local events, funny post or ask a question, then I get more attention. I am learning as everyone else from the comments here. Great question.

I think anything that is interesting about real estate. But if you post very many listings, it seems to chase away most people

Like Lise, I'm watching what others are posting here. If I had a Facebook business page, I would be certain to post links to any new blog posts, either here on on my Web Site.

Melissa,
I have read all the comments here on your question. Some marketplaces are more involved with FB and some are not. There are no universal rules that apply to all of real estate. Our experience shows that in second home communities or even one like ours in Santa Barbara that has a mix of ownership, people are interested in the activiites of the great outdoor. They are on their bikes, their paddleboards, their surfboards, etc...They are not on their smartphones checking FB. We have a local newspaper called the Independent, and that lists everything in town. Most of the populace picks up this free publication. A

Copy and paste your blogs from AR to Facebook to create your authority.
Take care that you leave some voids so you can link to AR.
Lastly, you would be doing yourself a HUGE disservice if you did not look behind the curtain of Facebook Ads. (read my 'paid traffic' blog)
No one knows more about their users that Facebook. And they have made that database available for those who are real marketers. You can do it the hard way or the easy way, the choice is yours.

Why would anyone go to my facebook page to read the news? Every newspaper is online now, and the same info shows up from hundreds of different sources all over the internet. Posting about local news and events makes more sense, and reporting specific changes in th industry. I would never post daily. Once or twice a week is fine.

I have found that FB biz pages are a waste of time and energy. I have more success simply engaging people in my sphere and interacting with others on the platform....

In our company bi-weekly print ad in the local paper we do a question of the day at the bottom of the ad. For the answer => check out our Facebook page

Well listings is probably the last thing you want to do. It's the surest way to have others unlike your page and have the algo tune you out.
I would do more interesting articles and share other realtors or complementary partner articles.

Prospects are probably more interested in seeing things about your community and learning about real estate than seeing all of your listings. The listings are available with any basic search or you are already sending time from your website.
